Founded by Dale Locklair after his graduation from Clemson University with a degree in Ornamental Horticulture, he set out to create a full service landscape company. With a loan of $2,000 from his parents, Dale purchased some "essential" equipment ( i.e., an old pickup truck, garden hose, shovels, etc.) and with no other assets or income, he went to work.
Knocking on doors, he quickly built an impressive reputation in the Pee Dee area. The following spring, brothers David and Randy joined the company while still in school at Clemson University. They worked summers and weekends when possible to help grow the company. Soon a Garden Center was opened and mom joined in to answer the phone and keep the books while the grandparents worked the Garden Center.
