Beehive Coop
We are a unique parent cooperative located in West University Place, Texas. For over forty years, our play-based preschool has helped develop the necessary skills children will need in elementary school and beyond. Research supports the benefits of play-based education as one of the best forms of learning.

Through play, children can develop their creativity, social emotional skills, and develop problem solving and critical thinking skills. At Beehive, our play-based environment encourages children to become independent thinkers and explore learning through their interests. Our younger learners begin their education journey by learning the basic foundations of reading, writing, and numbers though song and play.
Services
Emily is a West U parent of three who has lived in Houston for 20 years. She spent 8+ years as an Early Childhood Music Specialist, teaching Music Together curriculum to families in a studio music setting. She also taught music in preschool classroom settings, bringing music to some of Houston's most underserved communities through a nonprofit foundation.
Our new layout features two large classrooms, a teacher's workroom, office, lobby and bathrooms. Ongoing Renovations: glass for windows ordered, floors sanded, new floors ordered, new electrical ready for install!. Day 1 of unpacking at Beehive! Still a bit more to do to complete renovations, but it's looking good!
Should you be placed on Beehive's wait-list; supply fee and last month's tuition are refundable if we are unable to place your child in our program.* Step 1: Attend a prospective family open house or schedule a tour. Beehive may asks for playdate to be scheduled for prospective children to meet their teacher.
While we are sad to see Beehive's 47 year legacy on West U Elementary's campus end, we are thrilled to announce Beehive is officially relocating to Bissonnet and Westchester! We are excited to have a long-term agreement with the West University Church of Christ and will be renovating and using an entire wing of their building!
In the early 1970's, West University resident and early childhood educator Ann Wallin acted on her vision of creating a preschool in which her children and neighborhood friends could enhance their development, and parents could enrich their parenting skills. She and her friend Marcia Wall obtained permission from her church, St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, to use one of the church's classrooms to pilot their idea.

Beehive Coop is an amazing preschool. We are grateful to have such a wonderful preschool in our neighborhood and have both of our kids there. The coop structure creates a wonderful close-knit community and I love being in the classroom with the children and all the amazing parents. My kids are free to explore a variety of play-based, child-led activities such as process art, cooking, sensory bins, puzzles and more. The staff is highly skilled and knowledgeable in child development and my children love their teachers.

My son has been going to Beehive for two years now, we simply love it. Play based education has been really positive for my kid, he's learned self control, to be respectul with others, to be curious, to share. I really enjoy being part of my childrens education, and this is where I've learned to be a better parent too (how to deal with conflict, how to really SEE what a child may need, how to treat them with the respect they deserve).
It's a place where you can find responsible freedom for your kiddos to enjoy the amazing art of PLAY!

This is our third year at Beehive and we love it! I love that I get the opportunity to be part of my children's first educational experience. We are all part of what makes the school so very special to the children. My kids LOVE having me there as a "working parent." The Beehive staff members are so warm and supportive, and have built positive relationships with my kids. Every day the teachers and the parent committees create wonderful experiences for the children, from outdoor art projects to amazing sensory bins to the traditional Beehive "tea party." The parent community is also a highlight

Worst place to send your child for camp! My daughter got hit in the face and came home with a big bump between her eyebrows close to her forehead which turned bluish purple! I sent an email to the director Lisa and she said she would find out what happened and she never bothered to email me back after! They mix bigger kids with the little whichs not a good idea especially if the teachers are always staring into nothing or if its an old lady who just seems not to like kids other than her favorites!!
Very disappointed at this establishment! Nothing like School For Little Children in Bellaire!!
