Shine is wonderful. It's a smaller location, only a few stylists, which is great. Call if you're interested in outside hair cuts. They are located in a smaller space allows which oddly enough allows for better social distancing. There is usually only one other client at the same time. Scheduling is a breeze through schedulicity. I see Kristin, and cannot recommend her enough. Pricing is comparable if not slightly less than other stylists in the area. All her prices are available through schedulicity.

Kristen Brill is the only human I really trust with my hair color. In my wilder days, and on one of my first appointments with her, I requested that she shave half my head, and she did so willingly and stylishly. So, she listens to her customers. I've used her since 2011, and I highly recommend.

I've been going here for a while now and am very pleased every time. My hair can be tricky and because I always have my hair layered and have bangs, I'm picky about hair cuts. Kristen always does a great job and is fun to be around. Everyone I see walking out of that salon looks happy (and good) :) !

I've been getting my hair cut/dyed by Cynthia for years now, and she's wonderful! I have no idea why it has taken me so long to write a review - especially since I so much value her skills! She is extremely talented, and will take care of you just right. I'd go to her once a month if I had the pocketbook for it!!

I haven't gotten haircut almost a year since my favorite hair stylist moved into another country. Also, my husband and I just moved into this area, we didn't know much in this neighborhood. When I decided to get a haircut I looked up on yelp and found out this place. So I thought that I will give it a shot.
I do believe, most women who always have a long hair, they aren't trust anyone easily. It's a difficult sometimes to find someone that can trust to cut the hair. I am glad that I found this place and I found Ildi from Shine the Hair Studio.

Tired of going to the city for my hair, I decided to find a stylist in the east Bay Montclair where I live. I consulted Yelp of course and after reading the very nutty review that an obviously quite disturbed Amber P. wrote about Kristen -- I mean, she went on and on and on ad nauseam, as if to actually persuade herself that her cut was bad -- I decided to call Shine.

Came into the salon hesitant about trying a new stylist, but I enjoyed Kristin from beginning to end. She did exactly what I wanted and never changed anything without asking how I felt about it. Anyone who thinks differently is mistaken, she takes her time and truly cares that her clients are happy. Ill will for sure be coming back to her salon.

Love love Kristen! Not only is she a awesome stylist she is such a sweetheart! I Use to dread sitting in the chair for hours; not anymore, I come in and she treats me like I am a friend. The color is amazing, the cut fantastic and the conversation is great. I highly recommend her for anyone looking for great color and cut!

I panicked before New Year's when I realized I had lopped off a good 4"-5" of unhealthy ends but had no style to speak of. NYE was around the corner and my hair looked bad. I needed help ASAP and Ildi was available at the last minute.

As a dude, it's always hard to find something between the $20 clipper cut at the barber shop and a high end salon who wants to charge you $80 for a basic guy cut.
I found Shine a couple of months ago and have been having Kristen cut my hair every since.
Not only does she give you a great cut, but she's always in a good mood and up for some witty banter.
I'm a fan.

Got my cut last week and waited to post because I usually take a while to "acclimate" to my new 'do. Kristen did a great job, listened to what I said and was friendly throughout the process. At the end of the cut she gave me a discount off the regular price since I really just came in for trim. I'll definitely be back.

I debated whether or not to post a review of my haircut with Cynthia at Shine Hair Studio because Cynthia and her staff were so friendly and warm- but my unfortunately my haircut wasn't great and I'm still in the process of growing it out so that I can get it recut, 3 months later. Like many others, I found out about Shine through Yelp and was excited to see someone who could cut straight Asian hair competently. Booking the appt was easy and the studio is clean and cute, w/easy access to parking in Montclair Village. The cut itself was very quick, only took her 30 minutes, unfortunately

Got my hair cut by Kristen, one of the proprietors of the salon.
Shine is located on the 2nd floor - enter via the door way right next to the Starbucks in Montclair Village.
Kristen paid attention to ME the entire time - unlike some salons where the stylists are clearly more interested in gossiping with each other than paying attention to their clients. Kristen was fast, efficient and very easy to talk to. She did a great job with my hair - it was very painful to walk out into the rain! Although it was only about a 2 inch trim, my hair now feels thicker and healthier already.

Cynthia rocks! She's been my stylist for years...through spiral perms, orange hair, the "jennifer aniston" to a modern style i have now....she's been fantastic!
Awesome, friendly and gives the best haircuts/hightlights around....she keeps up with the latest styles and doesn't disappoint!
I'll be seeing her til the day i go senile and she fluffs up my bouffant at the senior home. Yay!

For my wedding this weekend, three of my bridesmaids and I had our hair and makeup beautifully executed by the talented professionals at Shine the Hair Studio. I cannot say enough about their wonderful work. They made me feel beautiful and confident for my special day. They also did the same for my bridesmaids who had never had their hair or makeup done professionally either. We surely benefited from the capable hands of Shine. I went there for the first time today because my regular stylist is out of town, I have a wedding next week and I was frantic!! I used their online appointment site and booked an appt for today, just 2 days ago, so that was great and easy. I got an appointment with Kelly. She was running about 20+ minutes late; luckily I wasn't in a huge rush so I didn't mind a lot.
She listened well and seemed to really "get" my hair and its issues. I was really happy with my haircut and would definitely go back to her!
