Dr. Marks graduated from Oregon Health Sciences University in 2010 and began practicing dentistry in the Portland and Northern Washington area. After practicing in the Pacific Northwest for the past 8 years, Dr. Marks and his family decided to settle in Virginia to be closer to friends and family.
Dr. James Burden graduated with an undergraduate degree from State University of New York at Buffalo in 1982 and received his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) from the Medical College of Virginia in 1986. Amy started her career at Smile Dental Group 25 years ago as a dental assistant. In 2003, she became the office manager of the Williamsburg location.

Services
I had neglected my teeth and gums for several years and needed extensive work. Before coming to Dr. Burden I hated the pain, cleanings and entire experience of the dentist's office. Now my teeth and gums are in the best condition ever. Originally Dr. Burden thought I needed more periodontal work. However, through his hard work and my persistence, he got my gums healthy without the periodontal work.

I’m not one to do reviews,but I’d like to give credit where credit is due, I see Dr.Marks and I got to say this man is more patient and caring than any dentist I’ve been to in VA. When I say patient …I mean he takes time out of his very busy schedule to make sure you’re on the right medication even if that means calling another doctor to verify due to being on certain medication. He is NOT in it for the money I can tell you that for a fact. I started going to Dr Marks when my original dentist no longer accepted my insurance… Dr Marks gladly took me under his wing and took great care

Dr. Marks and his staff were wonderful! Dr. Marks, Nicole, Hailey, Madison, and Tristen were such a help! I felt comfortable, understood and was shown great compassion! I was not pleased with the services at Smiles of Mathews yesterday. I received laughing gas and was disoriented after the procedure. The receptionist was trying to update my records with my drivers license and my care credit card. I tried to find this information in my wallet but my confusion would not allow it. I was not comfortable , in pain and was told I should wait in the car and get myself together before I pull off. This was very inconsiderate and unsafe because she knew as well as the lady sitting behind the desk with her that I was confused because of the laughing gas. This was a lack

On Wednesday I came in to see Dr Marks to have a gingivectomy done and I was amazed! Madison was super sweet and made sure I was comfortable and taken care of during the whole process. She was very professional and personable and made me feel right at home. It was one of the most professional and cleanest dentist offices I’ve ever been to. Dr Marks was very nice and was very patient and friendly. He did an awesome job! The front staff was super friendly and welcoming. Definitely going back and making them my go to dental office!

It is rare I leave reviews, especially not for a dentist 😬 but they deserve it and so much more. The staff is so incredibly kind, professional, helpful and it radiates. From the moment you walk in you feel welcome, appreciated and comfortable. They helped me get approved for credit in minutes, bc I couldn't afford the work out of pocket right now. Single income household with two small children ,and I was in serious pain. I will be back next month to continue my care plan and see myself and my family coming to then, Dr mark's specifically, for years to come.

I have never cared for the dentist since horror stories as a young child. I was recommended to go see Dr Marks and his staff and I would feel totally different about the dentist just after one visit. Well, I have not EVER had a better experience than my family has with Mr Marks and his wonderful staff there. My kids and I went today for fillings. My 5-yr old has never had any dental work done. They were the most patient, compassionate and gentle of any pediatric dentist they have been too. THEY ARE AWESOME!!!!! Go see them! They will take very good care of you and your family!!! Hands down the

I am not a Patient, but I take my 89 year-old Father there for his dental needs. The Staff is incredible, and patient when dealing with his issues of physical mobility and hearing. They have rescheduled appointments to fit in with his other medical needs. [For example, I told him, No, it is not a good idea to have the Dentist remove a tooth the day before you have to ride 90 miles to Richmond to the Urologist.]

I had visited this office because of their $79 special which included a cleaning X-rays and a whitening service. However after examination I was told that I was unable to receive any Services unless I had a debridement even though my teeth are in good shape I was told that they could not do any dental work on me whatsoever until I have the service which of course was more expensive.
