Granted, I've been an Aveda devotee for 20 yrs, first in Ohio (shout-out to Laura Lee Salon in Bainbridge Twp!) and here in Oakland the past 5 years, the last 3-ish at Bangs & Locks on Telegraph. No one needed to sell me on the product line. Simply the best, in my opinion. Wonderful hair and skin care products for both men & women. And then, exceptional color. So, that brings me to Laura. I checked out multiple salons and liked what I saw about Bangs & Locks. Booking my first appt those 3 yrs ago, I loved what I experienced with Laura. It has not changed in 3 yrs. She

Can not say enough good things about Bangs and Locks. Have been working with Amber for several years. She is super focused on meeting my hair care needs. Fantastic colorist who tolerates my long hair short hair changes. She is constantly prepared and very kind. It took me a long time to find someone to trust and she is the real deal!

Great first time experience with Amber! I went in for a cut and highlights. This being my first experience with highlights, Amber was patient with all my questions. She listened, advised, and did a wonderful job executing the job. I ended up with caramel highlights and a great cut that is easy to maintain just as I requested.
I am not a great talker and she wasn't either. Sometimes you just want to be in your own space and it was great not to feel pressured to talk. To top it all, the Aveda products she used smell so great.

I happened upon Bangs & Locks Salon when I moved back to Oakland and was looking for a stylist who knows curly hair. While not extremely curly, my hair has considerable wave and rebellious cowlicks, so when I found Ami Cooper at Bangs & Locks I knew I wouldn't come out of there looking like an astronaut's wife. (OMG...I've had terrible haircuts in the past). To be upfront, Ami knows curls.

This past Saturday I got a hair cut with Ami (apologies if I am not spelling this correctly) and it was a very pleasant experience. I was surprised that everything got started with a scalp massage! It was a perfect way to start my appointment. Ami was really nice and easy to talk to. I had gone to this salon on a friends recommendation and I was not disappointed! Thank you guys so much!

I have had such wonderful experiences here with my stylist Laura, who is also the owner. I pretty much have the most difficult hair to deal with. Super curly and frizzy and tangly. I have haircut anxiety because

I walked into Bangs & Locks a little over a year ago to buy my favorite Aveda hair product and asked Laura if she had any stylists who were good with my type of curly hair. She said they all were, including her. It took me a while to make an appointment because of my anxiety

Not sure how many times you want me to review you but my opinion does not change. I spent 3 hours in the chair waiting while Brittany taught 2 associates how to color my hair, took 2 of them to color it at the same time which is why I have a large swatch in the back of my head that looks likes someone slapped bleach on my head and did nothing to rectify the error. I have really short hair and should not take 3 hours to cut and color. They also stopped and ate lunch while I waited for them to finish. Later when I brought the mess on the back of my head to their attention, they acted like they did
