Outstanding design is our core focus here at Spartina and everything we do stems from a deliberate and thoughtful design process. I grew up here in Summerville and am still growing up in Summerville today.
After serving in the U.S. Army, I studied horticulture at Oregon State University. In 2017 I decided that I wanted to create a full-service company that combined expert plant design with a licensed and bonded contractor. I have been designing and installing custom landscapes for years, and now we can provide all of these services under one roof.

We hired Michael and the crew to come out and fix a number of issues on our property. New construction drainage issues at our new home caused some other issues and we needed someone to help with all of it and be willing to guarantee a fix. Michael did exactly that, including the guarantee. Our yard is dry. Our patio is fixed and now expanded and he even did a little fence repair for us as a last minute request. Everything came with a written warranty. We are glad we found Spartina and will definitely use them foe the next project.

Hired this company a few years ago. They did our walkway and side of our driveway with pavers and stones. Michael did come out and fix a few things after we complained. The problem I have is the pavers are sinking and the base was never done correct. The stones get everywhere because he didn’t do the edges correctly. Just poor quality, no attention to detail and his help was not trained. Would not recommend unless you are ok with sloppy work. Lastly, they killed a few bushes and tore up our grass without fixing. Michael said it would grow back but it didn’t. Would not recommend.

Hired Michael last year to put in a patio. A year later the pavers were sinking and uneven. He obviously has no clue how to put in patios. I had to hire another company to come out and fix his horrible work. There is no real warranty. He is not licensed or insured as he states. Beware of him talking a big game and telling you all the things he can do. It’s all a lie. He should not be in business in Summerville. The positive reviews on here are 100% fake or his personal friends. DO NOT USE him for anything or you will regret it within a year. Guaranteed.

Never completed the job. Michael talked a big game then showed up unprepared to the patio. Didn’t buy enough material. Didn’t do the edging correctly nor did he do the foundation correctly. Do not hire if you are looking for a professional patio.
