Starting out as a "store-front funeral home" on East Walnut Street, we were told we would never succeed -- a new business with no parking and no chapel. However, we viewed things differently. We had the whole city of Goldsboro for parking -- and didn't have to sweep our own parking lot! During our first year of business we served 30 families.

Through our guidance and professionalism, our business tripled by our second year, allowing us to serve 90 families. In 2001, recognizing another need in the community, Howell Funeral Home & Crematory expanded its services to include a separate pet crematory. We also added a full line of pet memorial products including urns, markers, and pet caskets.
Services
The caring and experienced professionals at Howell Funeral Home & Crematory are here to support you through this difficult time. We offer a range of personalized services to suit your family's wishes and requirements. You can count on us to help you plan a personal, lasting tribute to your loved one.
Howell Funeral Home & Crematory is decorated to maintain the dignity of the funeral/memorial ceremony and provide a warm and comfortable place for reflection and interaction with friends and family. The soft, soothing colors with Victorian furnishings and uplifting works of art are intended to make you feel at home and at ease.
Howell Funeral Home & Crematory, Arnold Wilbert Vault Company and Wilbert Licensees are honored to provide families of firefighters, law enforcement officers and emergency medical personnel who have died in the line of duty with a tribute worthy of their valor and sacrifice. At no charge to the family, we donate a customized Wilbert Stainless Steel Triune burial vault when traditional burial is chosen.
At Howell Funeral Home & Crematory we feel that each service should be as individual as the individual. That's why we offer a complete choice of services -- from traditional funerals, cremation options, advanced funeral planning -- to shipping and receiving. While attitudes toward burial, cremation, prearrangement, and funeral services continue to change, some things remain very much the same.
The traditional funeral service is held with the body present, with either an open or closed casket, within two or three days of death. The family decides whether the service is to be public or private. At a typical traditional funeral, a member of the clergy officiates the service in the church or in the funeral home chapel.

My husband and I planned his funeral what we thought would be about 1 year later. Unfortunately he had complications from his cancer that took his life 2 weeks later. Stephen was amazing. Made us feel very comfortable with making the arrangements and we actually had really good conversations together. After Pat's passing he and the whole funeral home helped me in my time of need. Answered every question when I called and made the difficult process a bit easier. Stephen comforted me knowing I was the widow and kind of by myself. Walked me down the Isle after the funeral and made sure I had someone

In 2011 my grandmother passed away. Her pre-need coverage had lapsed, and my mother was tight on funds as she had taken off a lot of time with my grandmother as she was ill and passing. Howells stepped up the plate and worked to make sure that my grandmother was taken care of and worked diligently and closely with my mom to make sure her emotional needs were met in such a stressful time.
In 2017, 3years after my son suffered a TBI, I decided that setting things up for his passing in advance would be the most helpful thing. I drove from Raleigh, NC to Howell's and planned everything out with them

Howell Funeral took care of my father in law 15 years ago, my mother in law this past January, and my brother in law just yesterday. They are a top notch funeral service. Each time they did a superb job. They do things the way things should be done. I wish more businesses operated like they do.

Lost an Aunt due to the Psndemic, and had family all across the country and friends that were unable to attend due to the covid ctisis.ai suggested as m as my other funeral homes have done and stream the service. I have family from Mass.,California TExas as well as other states, who cannot travel. It was very hurtful to not be able to pay my final respects to a lady who raised myself and the entire family this is very disappointing and hurtful. Most funeral homes have the capability to stream services
Very poor customer relations
