Dr. Kunkel was raised in Anderson, SC, and earned his bachelor's degree in chemistry with multiple general and departmental honors from Clemson University in 2010. He went on to obtain his doctorate in dental medicine with honors from the Medical University of South Carolina.
His training at MUSC led to several awards and cutting-edge experience with CEREC and other modern technologies, culminating in presentations at dental conferences in South Carolina and Tennessee.He engages with ongoing continuing education to ensure the most modern care for his patients. Dr. Kunkel is excited to be Upstate serving the community that he grew up in.

Our office can provide you with a wide range of diagnostic and preventive care which include the following. Our emphasis is on the total preventive care for each of our patients. Total dental care begins with regular hygiene visits, dental examinations, and continued home oral routines. The goal of restorative care is to preserve natural teeth as much as possible.
The use of local anesthetics is safe for both pregnant moms and their babies. Seeing a dentist while pregnant isn't only safe, it can help moms-to-be cope with pregnancy-related symptoms like bleeding gums. Expecting mothers may have many questions during this exciting time, so the ADA put together a list of the 5 most common concerns women have about going to the dentist during pregnancy.
Neil Maes, age 11, won our regional spelling bee and went on to compete in the Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington D.C. Neil, who was born without hearing, now has cochlear implants and doesn't let anything stand in his way. This is not only due to technology advancements, but the fierce determination that he and his parents have shown to make this technology work for them.

I live visiting this office! The environment alone is so relaxing. The family treats you like staff. The ladies up front are always so kind and smiling. Dr. Kunkel and Dr. Brunson are so nice and easy going. I really feel like I am not being judged when going to have work done unlike most dentist offices. I definitely recommend them to everyone.

The office staff is very friendly and professional. The hygienist that cleaned my teeth was very gentle but thorough. I have been very pleased with all of my appointments and the services they have provided. I have had to schedule or reschedule appointments for my family on several occasions and they were very accommodating every time!

Got here for my appointment just for them to tell me that my insurance didn't cover my cleaning until november they could've called and told me that...just asked a couple of questions to see what all my insurance covered and dena felt some type of way and slammed the glass in my face while I was talk won't be returning

Ridiculous! Office hours for Tues are supposed to be 7am-3pm. My kids had an appointment for 9:30am. We got there at at 9am and was there about 15 min calling the office # and knocking on the door. The door was locked & lights all off so we left.. After 9:30 i tried calling again to reschedule and was told they "decided to come in late today" and i couldn't reschedule my kids. Because of a missed appointment, BUT WE WERE THERE. They should let people know when they "decide" to come in late!!!!
