Services
Dan Smith launched Smith Publicity from scratch in 1997, and unlike the vast majority of book PR firms and solo publicists, he came in with no previous experience in the book publishing and book marketing fields. He had previously worked as a university administrator, a direct mail company manager, and started his post-college career repossessing cars in Harrisburg, PA.
Our team members are passionate about working with authors, experts, and publishers to enhance the visibility of their work and platform with earned publicity. We also can get you ready for media attention with consultation services. The minimum project fee is typically $7,500. We accept clients selectively; only when we have the right timeline, media contacts, and team availability to accomplish your goals.
Custom, personalized service. We have no cookie-cutter programs. We don't spray press releases out in mass and hope for results. We create a specific set of services designed for each unique book and author and personally pitch media. Our publicists take the time to research media contacts, find out what they've covered and reach out to them in a personalized manner that makes all the difference.
Smith Publicity is the industry leader in providing impactful business book marketing services. From business book promotion to author branding and everything in between, we market business books with proven strategies and tactics. Our business book publicity campaigns reach influential media - both traditional and digital - and deliver persuasive pitches that prompt positive responses.
Media like "real life" topics that typically make for better author interviews and good information for print stories. I worked with Smith Publicity for the publicity around my first book. I did a ton of research trying to find a publicist - I started with a list of 20 and interviewed four agencies in person. I am so happy with my choice to work with Smith Publicity. I just can't say enough about this group. Janet Shapiro was my agent, and was phenominal in all aspects. She genuinely cares about her clients and was 100% invested in my success. She helped me navigate every aspect of the process, many of which were way above and beyond the project scope. And they really deliver. They have fantastic relationships

When I first started interviewing publicity firms, Smith Publicity jumped to the top of the list in an instant during my first call with Sandy. We had a great conversation about more than just the book and publicity campaigns. I wasn’t even their client yet, and she was giving me marketing suggestions to get a jump on things over a year before my novel was due to release. I interviewed three other publicists and returned to Smith to talk to Sandy again. After talking with Sarah Miniaci, the person who would act as my publicist, I knew Smith was the right choice. This wasn’t my first novel,

I hired Smith Publicity (under a pen name) for a 3 month campaign to promote by diet book. I was of course expecting a good campaign, but they exceeded even what I had hoped for. I had placements in one national magazine( print version!), over 30 radio interviews, two TV interviews, and many, many reviews and references to my book. I really couldn't have hope for more. Thank you so much, Smith Publicity!

What a spectacular group of people! I just love the staff at Smith Publicity - truly, I consider them friends now. During my book publicity campaign I became ill, and not only did they page my campaign while I was in the hospital, they sent me a gift basket! I know they're in business to make money, but as I've seen other people write, they really do it the right away. Such positive energy from everyone in this company. I really can't recommend them highly enough. Thank you!

When I was seeking book marketing options, I interviewed several firms and chose Smith Publicity. Their professionalism, engagement and network were superior to all others I researched. Additionally, they were great people who showed genuine interest in me, my book and helping me achieve my personal objectives. They will be friends for life.

Smith Publicity handled the publicity for my novel "No Place to Pray." Smith is a team of consummate professionals who know their business, know how to work together, and know how to bring a new author along. Most importantly, they do what they promise to do. My publicists Rachel Taylor and Jennifer Tucker kept me continually informed, explained at every stage exactly what they were doing and why, and always respected my questions and concerns. Without Smith, I would never have been able to achieve the exposure they attracted for my book, from reviews to blog posts and even to a TV interview. I’ll

"Smith Publicity is a classy operation, I know, because as a client located not too far from them, I've been to their office and spent hours at their office. Here's full transparency: Dan Smith called me and asked me to write about my experience because a ridiculous, negative review is showing. It's absurd; these are wonderful people at Smith. Seriously, you couldn't ask for nicer people and they did a heck of a job promoting my book. I sincerely recommend them."

Such friendly people, just left their NJ office. Came in to discuss the campaign they carried out - (thank you, Mallory!). They worked incredibly hard and produced results. The only reason I didn't give them 5 stars is really because of the reviews my book got, but that's really on me. Book publicity is a rough business - Smith will get your book out there and get coverage, and then it's up to quality of your book. You hire companies like Smith to get media interested. And that's exactly what they do. They have a great office, btw! Super nice people; I was treated like royalty. Thanks again, Smith

After I wrote two books and tried my hand at some marketing I realized that I was out of my element and researched publicity firms. After looking into several firms I chose Smith Publicity. From the very first contact with Sarah Miniaci and all the way through the campaign Smith Publicity checked in with me and worked hard to help promote Quiet Water. My publicist, Anne Johnson, worked hard to pitch my book to many outlets and media opportunities. She answered my questions promptly and was always available for me. As a result I spoke on numerous radio shows as well as some online press. I feel

Smith Publicity is nothing but a bunch of con artists. They promote their service in a way that has nothing to do with what they actually do once they have your money. I paid them $4000 to promote my book. I expected an experienced promoter with Smith to handle the campaign - a person with contacts in the industry, as their website leads you to believe. Instead, they sub-contracted the campaign to an inexperienced promoter who got zero results.
