The Portfolio Group was founded by Steve and Betty Nickel in 1988 as a Design-Build firm. As such, the great majority of our projects utilize an "integrated" approach that delivers design and construction services managed by a single point of responsibility. We have specialized in, and have achieved, the design of award-winning "Vernacular Mountain" Residential Projects.
Betty Nickel has 26 years of experience in Residential Projects in Colorado and Chicago's North Shore. Betty brings to Portfolio the designer's approach to Architecture as Lifestyle, and stays abreast of the latest trends in Residential Design and finish products. Betty did her graduate work at the University of Illinois Graduate School of Architecture, and undergraduate work at Northwestern University.

In the course of the design and construction of our residential projects, many interior design issues need to be addressed. These are an extension of effective space planning and the overall "architectural look" of the project.
Integral to the architectural look, we place a studious emphasis on the interior "articulation" of spaces using: architectural bands, beams, columns, ceiling definition of spaces, etc. Kitchen and bath design are among the most challenging aspects of interior design.Probably most, if not all, of our remodeling projects involve some alteration or total replacement of kitchens and baths.

Very poor customer care, their alarm rang consistently for days called them calmly to speak to a manager about getting a back up number in case this happened again but they wouldn’t take the call and wouldn’t call back eventually a very helpful lad on the phone got a number. Think the management should learn from the lads on the phones. If I had an alarm ringing 24 hours a day for days I would at least have the decency to apologise and ensure the person we would get it fixed.
