Services
Montgomery & Steward Funeral Directors has been owned and operated by local Pueblo families since it was started in 1922 by the Rouch family. We have never been part of a large, out-of-state corporate conglomerate, and we have no plans to sell out and become just another cog in the wheel of a corporate giant.
Our locations offer the best amenities for honoring a loved one. Our staff adhere the highest level of standards and we provide the most options for merchandise, service options and support. Families frequently share with us that we have made a difficult time easier because of the caring way we guide them through decisions and even anticipate questions they did not know they needed to ask.
Designed with families in mind, Montgomery & Steward Funeral Directors have completed its expansion and remodeling project. Our modern, clean Reception Center offers families and their guests a gathering place after the service to share memories, socialize and continue to support each other. Our handicapped accessible elevator transports guests to the second-floor reception room that comfortably seats more than 125.
Mountain View Cemetery is located in the heart of Pueblo near the Colorado State Fair grounds and occupies 45 acres surrounded by a native stone wall. More than one third of this spacious, tree covered and beautifully landscaped cemetery is still open and available for future use, as well as the availability of above ground entombment in the recently competed community chapel mausoleum.
At Montgomery and Steward Funeral Directors we own and operate our own crematory with licensed and certified staff. Many other funeral homes hire third party crematories. These often have multiple funeral homes transferring remains in and out at any given time. This makes it nearly impossible for those other funeral homes to manage and supervise the cremation as well as Montgomery and Steward Funeral Directors can do for you.

Our family had a wonderful experience with Gerry and Dian. It was easy to talk to them about the details of the arrangements we made. They genuinely cared about us; they were kind and nonjudgemental; they were supportive and patient with us even when asked the same questions. Not only do they have impeccable people skills, they have top notch professional and technical skills. They are able to take care of any type of arrangement you decide on. I’d like to say first they they did a great job when my nephew passed...but now when my brother passed we went with another company for the cremation and apparently that made them angry because he passed in January and it is now May and his plaque has yet to be placed up on the mausoleum next to his son. This was all pre paid back in 2002 when my nephew passed. Myself, my mother and my other brother have called several times and we are always told they are going to look into it and call us back but we never get the call. This is if they even pick up the phone. The situation is hard enough especially

Thankfully I have not needed them for anybody in my life but they have been there for both of my puppies. They are very compassionate and sensitive to the loss of these love of mine. I know that they will take great care of the cremation. I would not use anybody else in that time of need. Thank you again from the bottom of my heart and my family's.

I cannot immagine any funeral home that is ran better than Montgomery &Steward. Unfortunately , I have to use them on several occasions. I can't begin to tell you how great Bob, Diane and Rachel treated me in handling the care of my son who passed away unexpectedly. They were there beginning to end in spite of a very embarrassing relative who did nothing but harass them and all the while kept their composure and showed what great professionals they are. This is a phenomenal funeral home. The owners and staff go above and beyond in providing stellar service for grieving families during this most difficult time of their lives. There's not another funeral home in the state of Colorado with more compassion. Gerry and Dian Montgomery and Marvin Steward are so organized and thoughtful. My Grandmother's service was so beautiful and fitting for her life. They really listen to the grieving family's wishes and go beyond. They think for you during your time of loss.
