From the routine, to the unexpected, we are here to help your pet lead a happier, healthier life. What is spaying / neutering? Spaying (ovariohysterectomy) is the surgical removal of part of the female reproductive tract-the ovaries and.
Regularly scheduled health evaluations combined with proper diet, exercise, and parasite control can greatly enhance your pet's quality of life and overall life expectancy. Because medical problems in animals are usually not noticed by their owners until they are advanced, periodic veterinary examinations and routine blood testing can lead to the early detection and treatment of disease and a healthier pet.
On average, your pet ages 7 years for every year you do. Because of this rapid aging, your pet should receive bi-annual examinations from Bowie Drive Animal Clinic in order to maintain optimum health. This is a great time for your doctor to take a really close look at your pet. Your pet will receive a comprehensive nose to tail physical exam.
Periodontal disease affects 70-80% of pets by 3 years of age. Bacteria present in plaque will lead to inflammation of the gums, bad breath, bleeding, bone loss, painful tooth abscessation and eventual tooth loss. Periodontal disease can also lead to more serious, systemic diseases, such as heart and kidney disease.
How Vaccines Work How Vaccines Work Vaccinations prevent disease by stimulating your pet's immune system to produce antibodies that protect them from disease-causing viruses and bacteria. Each time a vaccination is repeated it reminds the immune system to produce protective antibodies. After the initial series, most vaccinations are repeated annually to continue to remind the immune system to protect your pet.

This place is amazing! We had to put our 13 year old German Shepherd down last week and the entire staff was so compassionate. It was a difficult day but the Vet and staff did everything in such a loving way. The process was explained in detail and our beautiful Sofie experienced no pain. I know this can not be easy for the staff and I cannot give enough kudos to them all. Thank you, Bowie Drive Animal Hospital for all the care you provide all of our animals, even to to end.

The staff was phenomenal! I'm a first time dog mom, and ALL of my questions were answered in a way I understood. I've already referred several pet parents their way.

The vet assistant and front desk girls were very sweet and helpful. I was a bit upset by the fact that my dog was in active labor and I was told that she wasn't and it was probably something more serious that of course we would have to pay more for tests and lab work. My dog ended up having her pups within hours of the appointment and is recovering very well and the pups are healthy and all survived. I do appreciate the fact they were correct about how many puppies to expect.
