Paul Carmichael, a native of Granbury in Hood County, came to Pampa in 1930 from Waxahachie, Texas. A 1925 graduate of the Dallas School of Embalming, Paul came to Pampa to manage Pampa Mortuary, owned by banker Bass Clay. In 1937, he partnered with Charles Duenkel to form Duenkel-Carmichael Funeral Home, which was located at 300 W. Browning.
We understand that making the many decisions which come at a time of loss can be difficult. We offer our support by providing you with two options as you consider making immediate arrangements. With online Arrangements, you can take your time to select the arrangements which are best for your preferences and budget.
The following is a list of choices which represent the cost of our services. They may or may not include the casket or container required for visitation or viewing, burial, entombment or cremation. Our charges include: basic services of funeral director and staff; a proportionate share of overhead costs; local transportation of remains to funeral home; alternative container; and fee for crematory.
Most of us plan ahead in life. We plan for our wedding, our children's education, family vacations, and other significant expected life events. We also plan for the unexpected events of life by purchasing home, auto and medical insurance. Understanding the benefits of pre-planning has prompted many to take the step to plan their own arrangements.
Many who have undergone the emotional strain of arranging a funeral within hours of losing a loved one have made the choice to pre-plan their own funeral. Doing so lifts the burden from their loved ones by relieving decision-making pressure at a time of grief and emotional stress. Funeral arrangements are a deeply personal choice.

Carmichael Whatley took wonderful care of our passed loved one and were very compassionate to our family. Brad is very efficient, professional, and warm. Therapy dog Andi will greet you at the front door while wearing his tie. Doug has greatly assisted with several family member funerals over the years. The memorial and funeral were very organized and provided a great tribute to our mom. Forever grateful!
