He was an honor graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi and attended postgraduate work at LSU. Mr. Sturgeon practiced in all the courts of Mississippi and devoted much of his practice to work in the Chancery Courts of South Mississippi.

He handled probate, real estate closing and all types of real estate work, and also Bankruptcy and select personal injury cases and general litigation. Mr. Sturgeon had focused a large part of his practice to domestic law and in addition to divorces, he handled custody suits and visitation and select child support cases, as well as adoptions.
