Family law issues are serious matters that are often complicated by raw emotion. Without the right legal guidance, those strong feelings could cause lasting harm to you and your children. At the Law Offices of H. Dyke N. Spear, Jr. in West Hartford, we have more than 30 years of experience effectively handling every aspect of Connecticut divorce cases.
Though changes such as no-fault divorce have revamped matrimonial law in Connecticut and elsewhere, it is still essential to hire a strong advocate to protect your rights. At the Law Offices of H. Dyke N. Spear, Jr., we know that even an amicable breakup can become acrimonious very quickly. That is why our West Hartford firm delivers comprehensive support to divorcing spouses in Hartford, Middlesex and Tolland counties.
Connecticut is an equitable distribution state, meaning that the court has the discretion to award marital property on the basis of fairness. Of course, the notion of what is fair often depends on how an issue is framed. That's why you need an experienced and knowledgeable attorney to advocate for your position.
When dealing with the contentious issue of child custody, it's important to establish realistic goals and expectations. At The Law Offices of H. Dyke N. Spear, Jr., we firmly assert your parental rights and pursue a course that benefits you and serves the best interests of your children. However, the reality of the Hartford family law situation is that the average middle-class person can't afford a custody fight.
The first thing to recognize about child support is that, although it is paid to the ex-spouse, it is not viewed as part of a maintenance award to the ex-spouse. In other words, an ex-spouse does not have a right to child support; the child has an independent right to be supported by his or her parents.

Attorney Spear has represented me during some challenging situations and has done an outstanding job for me. He is a complete professional and made sure that I was satisfied and understood all sides of an issue before helping me make a final decision. He always returned my phone calls in a timely manner and made my experience a lot easier to handle. If you are in need of terrific attorney, I highly recommend Dyke Spear.

Terrible experience- I was and remain to be very dissatisfied with the "representation" which was provided to me. If you require an attorney that will work for you and follow through; my suggestion is - look elsewhere . It is safe to safe you would be better off representing yourself. I gave him one star as a review because the option to leave zero was not available.
