Services
I started doing Hair in Santa Cruz, Ca. I made my way up to San Francisco where I lived happily. Fifteen years later and a few stops along the way, I found my home in the East Bay. I am happy to call Rockridge home to our little neighborhood salon, Dandelion. I believe in restoration and transformation with treatments from Rene Furterer, Kevin Murphy, Olaplex, and Davines.
My specialties include dry cuts, point cutting, razor cuts (and various other texture techniques), fades, vintage and modern cuts, and gender affirming cuts. I am proficient in all hair textures from bone straight to tight curls. I am transgender, and people of all genders are warmly welcomed. My clientele consists of people from all walks of life with all types of hair.

I have been seeing Rebecca Knell for color and cut for almost five years now. I was one of those "do it yourself" hair color people prior, and I look back with regret on those pennywise, pound foolish days. I love this salon. It's quiet, clean, conveniently located for Bart and plenty of street parking too. Nick Meinzer is an amazing colorist. More like an artist, I've found it's best to be silent and let him create. My color and cuts are always gorgeous, I get so many compliments. I tell them "Nick does my hair!" I love Nick and Dandelion salon so much that I drive over from SF every month to have my fix.

I have mix feelings about this salon.
See I do like my hair but even after the second session I still didn't get the same as the photo (or even similar) I kept showing her the photo and I sent it to her but I don't think she felt it would of worked with me like that's how she made me feel. The first time it was literally two shades lighter then my natural brown color and now it's a lot more lighter actually the color I wanted it's just mainly on the bottom and the streaks start half way down my hair instead of where I told her which is a few inches past my roots. Rebecca Knell is a goddess with scissors. It's so hard to find hairdressers that I trust with curly hair but she knows *exactly* what she's doing. She took my vague description of what I wanted and gave me the best haircut of my life. I've literally never been happier with my hair! She is amazing, such a great hairdresser, and such a cool person!

Echoing other reviewers here: Rebecca Knell is such a good colorist and stylist! I've followed her to Dandelion Hair Salon from her previous salon and am consistently happy with her cuts, color, and level of care she brings to each appointment. Rebecca is really knowledgable about color, products, and styling. Also very easy to talk to!
Dandelion hair salon is also really cute and very accessible by transit.

Have curly or wavy hair? Rebecca Knell is your woman! Rebecca has been my hairdresser for over three years and she always does a superb job. In fact, when she moved to Dandelion from a different salon, I came with her because she's that good.
I have medium-length, wavy hair which I get cut in layers. Hugely knowledgable about hair and products, she's incredibly skilled in understanding what kind of cut works well with my hair and knowing how to work with my natural curls.
She's a sweet, lovely, genuine person and I always enjoy our conversations while she's cutting my hair

I will start off by saying I've lived in the east bay for 6 years now, and have been driving an hour away to get my hair cut by my hairstylist of many years. I decided it was time to make things easier on myself. I did my well to do research to land me at Dandelion. I took a chance on Meghan, and she was absolutely fantastic. She has a great attitude, skills, and LISTENS to what you want. A lot of people I know have a hard time finding a stylist who won't get tempted to cut more hair than asked for.

Rebecca Knell is AMAZING. I went in for a curly haircut. She did an excellent job of both cutting my hair and educating me on how to style curly hair. She took the time to have me replicate her actions so that I knew what to do when I got home. She gave me practical advice and didn't try to push products but explained how each of them worked.

This review is for the fabulous Ms. Rebecca Knell. I first met Rebecca about two years ago, when I needed serious help with a bad haircut. She was able to transform my terrible cut into something fresh and cute. Since then I've gone to Rebecca on a very regular basis, and I've been happy with the results each time. Rebecca is extremely thorough, gives great attention to detail, and does a marvelous job of communicating to find out exactly what it is you're looking for. I highly recommend Rebecca to anyone looking for a new stylist!

Rebecca Knell is a genius with hair. She has been cutting my hair for a couple of years now, and I am always so super pleased with her cuts. She is creative, extremely attentive to detail, great at hair transformations and color- she is a really great listener and I always feel like I get exactly what I wanted when I get my hair cut with her. I cannot even put into words how fantastic this salon is, and how much I appreciate Megan and her team there. Being a new resident to the Berkeley/ Oakland area and having already had a poor experience at a different local salon, I was definitely nervous of a repeat... At Dandelion Salon I received the polar opposite and want to sing from the rooftops how fabulous they are there.

Super cute salon! They always have little snacks, tea, water and coffee. Megan is always willing to work with me and my crazy work schedule and makes sure that I'm 100% happy with my hair. She's, by far, the nicest hair stylist I've ever had!! I'll be coming here for as long as Megan owns it. I feel totally at home and comfortable and would recommend this place to anyone and everyone!!

Absolutely love this cute little hair salon! My hair has seriously never been healthier. I've been getting my hair done by Megan for three years now and she is incredible at what she does! The salon is fully stocked with Kevin Murphy hair products and all the tools you need to make your hair gorgeous! Do yourself a favor and come see Megan for some hair therapy!
