After many years as an apartment dweller with nothing more than a fire escape and window sills with which to garden, I found myself on a one acre property with a sweeping front and back lawn-a blank canvas. In that first autumn I planted approximately 2000 tulip bulbs in the front of our home. I had no idea what would happen.
Would they come up? Would they actually bloom come spring? To my delight and surprise, they did bloom and it was an absolutely beautiful sight. After receiving a letter of thanks and congratulations from Jean Kidd of May in Montclair, I was hooked! The business I had started in 1985 was know as Cynthia C. & Company.

Services
Twig & Vine Design is a residential landscape and garden design company located in Montclair, New Jersey. Our projects range from small changes in existing gardens to complete renovations and garden makeovers. A beautiful garden adds to the value of your home and, more importantly, to the enjoyment of your property for years to come.
Our landscape design services range from small garden renovations to complete property design & installation. The initial meeting is held at the property. We walk the area together and discuss likes, dislikes and needs for the space. Based on that initial meeting, a concept plan is drawn up. At the second meeting we will go over the concept plan at which time a clear picture of the design will be visible.
We love Cynthia's beautiful work! Cynthia listened to our needs and, at our request, created low-maintenance gardens that are always in bloom. Every room in our house has a view of Cynthia's artistry and creativity and our guests always give us compliments on our gardens. From planning to the annual maintenance, Cynthia is passionate about her creations.

We hired Cynthia two years ago after we bought our house and we are still thrilled with the results! She turned our unkempt, disheveled yard into a clean, crisp, beautiful space. Passersby compliment it all the time. She asked lots of questions and took everything we asked for to heart. We just love it. She listened to our desire to keep everything low maintenance, and we've had to do very little to keep it looking nice over the last couple of years. She has also remained in contact with us after completing the job, just to make sure everything is going well. We had problems with one spot

We hired Cynthia earlier this year to fix our front-yard landscape that another "designer" had butchered. It's likely we contacted at least 30 landscapers/designers for this project, most of whom did not bother to respond. The ones that did respond seemed to be unable to maintain basic professionalism/communication by either not showing up for a scheduled consultation, failing to send a quote/design, or simply disappearing altogether. There's no better way to put this, but, quite frankly, they were all...well, imbeciles.

I hired Cynthia last year to design a front garden and a rear garden for the house I bought in Montclair. The contract we signed was for design services only, since she does not have a landscaping firm. Her fee was $2,500 for designing the two areas (for reference, the whole property is only 0.25 acres).
To begin with, I was disappointed with Cynthia's professionalism throughout the whole process:
1) Though she advised we should aim to plant in the Fall, she was unable to give me a schedule that worked backwards from a target date and specified things like: when the plants should be ordered
