At Louscher Family Dentistry, we are following strict infection control protocols as we always have. The next time you visit us, you will see we have also added some new, additional, protocols in order to follow the Governor's Emergency Declaration as it relates to dental care in the State of Iowa.
While adhering to these new protocols, we will continue to address our patient's needs as quickly and efficiently as possible. Due to our prolonged shut down this past spring, please note that appointments for regular cleanings and exams have been the most affected and that we are working hard to get everyone back on their scheduled maintenance programs.

Cosmetic dentistry includes any procedure performed to correct imperfections in the appearance of the mouth. Anyone who is unhappy with their smile can have it fixed. The upper teeth usually show, only when smiling, while the lower teeth typically remain hidden. This is reversed when talking, with the upper teeth remaining hidden and the lower teeth show.
Are you are thinking of having other cosmetic improvements done, such as crowns, porcelain veneers or new fillings to replace your old, discolored ones? If so, consider whitening your teeth first and then any future restorations we make for you will be matched to your whitened teeth, giving you fantastic results.
A tooth-like crown made of porcelain is used to restore a tooth after the decay has been removed. Crowns are also used to restore chipped teeth, broken teeth, gaps in teeth, and other damage. Also called "caps, " porcelain crowns resemble natural looking teeth in both shape and color. All metal crowns are also sometimes used and have the shape of real teeth, but are made of gold or silver.
There are different types of dentures, but they share a common function-they replace teeth that have become loose or teeth that have been lost due to bone loss. When bone loss around the roots of teeth is great enough to loosen them or let them fall out, it's time for dentures. Relax. No one enjoys losing their natural teeth, but you will still be able to eat and talk regularly.
Crowns are full coverage restorations that are used to cover a tooth that is likely to break, or one that is too broken down to be restored with a filling. Crowns are most commonly done after root canal treatment, or when a large filling wears out. The larger the hole made by a cavity that has to be treated, the more likely a crown will be needed.

Was told my only option was an amalgam filling on a broken tooth. When I told them my Dr. advised I get rid of the one amalgam I already had because of mercury, the Dentist laughed and said he would just pull it then. I decided to go back home to my old dentist (out of state) who placed a porcelain filling for me. Ridiculous.
