The history of our family funeral home begins in 1946 when J. Roger Smith opened the doors of the Smith Funeral Home in Greenfield, Massachusetts. Shortly thereafter in 1951, he purchased and renovated the Gardner residence in his home town of Shelburne Falls. From these two locations J. Roger was able to provide his neighbors the guidance needed at the most the difficult times in their lives.

His calm, gentle demeanor was a great comfort to the families he served. In 1972 J. Roger welcomed his son-in-law, Daniel M. Kelleher into the business thus changing the name to the Smith-Kelleher Funeral Home. Dan and his wife Pamela (Smith), raised their five sons above the funeral home in Shelburne Falls.
Services
The caring and experienced professionals at Smith-Kelleher Funeral Home and Cremation Service are here to support you through this difficult time. We offer a range of personalized services to suit your family's wishes and requirements. You can count on us to help you plan a personal, lasting tribute to your loved one.
Funeral or Memorial services offer an opportunity for family and friends to come together and celebrate a loved one's life. These celebrations can take place at the funeral home, church, or other meaningful gathering place. These gatherings enable the family to express to each other how their lives were touched by their loved one.
For those individuals who prefer cremation, we can provide these services as requested. There are many options with cremation such as, visiting hours and or church service prior to cremation, a funeral home service prior to cremation, private viewing at the funeral home prior to cremation, immediate cremation followed by memorial service, as well as other options.
For those individuals who choose casket burial, we offer the services they may be accustomed to as well as variations on traditional services. If you have a particular wish or have questions about options, we can help. A majority of the caskets we offer are made locally by the Florence Casket Company.
When it comes to your final arrangements, shouldn't you make the decisions? The arrangements you make will reflect your exact wishes and desires. Pre-arranging your own service will help to ease the burden of your loved ones. It will also alleviate any questions, problems or differences, which can occur among family members.

At a time when the last thing we wanted to worry about was dealing with mundane details, Tim Kelleher was the kindest, most compassionate person who could have come to our aid. We went to 3 different funeral homes in the area and were not happy with any of them and then we met Tim and right away we knew we would be taken care of. Extremely professional and always patient and caring, we highly recommend his service, should you need it - although we hope you don’t.

Went to a service for one of our co-workers that passed on a few years ago! The business offers an older nostalgic funeral service with modern day respect and courtesy!
