Dandelion is a cooperative play-based nursery school located in Berkeley, California. Here at Dandelion, parents and professionals collaborate to provide a high quality, developmentally appropriate education for young children. Dandelion is staffed by two full time teachers who have years of experience in early childhood education, classroom teaching, and play-based philosophies.

Our co-op preschool program serves children between the ages of 3 to 5. Classes are available Monday through Friday from 9 to12 PM. Extended care is available.

Dandelion Nursery School is a parent cooperative preschool in Berkeley, California. Dandelion has been a vibrant part of the community for over 30 years, bringing together and giving young children a wonderful introduction to school. Dandelion is a play based cooperative nursery school. Parents share in the operation of the school and are actively involved in their child's learning. Dandelion's teachers provide leadership as they model developmentally appropriate practice, curriculum, and their skilled, loving support of the children.
Classroom participation: Parent participation in the classroom plays a key role in our community. All families participate as a teacher's aide on a rotating basis. Family jobs: Each family is assigned a family job at the beginning of the school year. These range from caring for our animals, to performing yard maintenance, to organizing fundraisers.
Dandelion is a preschool program for children ages 3-5. We primarily enroll students in the fall, but may accept students at other times depending on availability. We are now accepting applications for the 2021-2022 school year. If you are interested in applying to Dandelion, you must first attend an information session.
