Dr. Chonway (aka John-Wayne) Tram was born and raised in Southern California. After receiving his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree at Loma Linda University School of Dentistry, he continued his studies in a General Practice Residency at St. Barnabas Hospital. While there he was awarded merits for excellence in oral surgery and as the most productive resident.
After residency Dr. Tram returned to his SoCal roots and practiced for a number of years in Newport Beach. Eventually the ocean air grew thin as Dr. Tram longed to return home to the Inland Empire. Not soon after, Kaio Dental was born. Aside from being an active member of some amazing dental organizations (ADA, CDA, TDCS and ICOI), Dr. Tram is also an assistant professor at Western University School of Dental Medicine.

I was very apprehensive going to the dentist in the past. The doctor is very professional and understanding. I have experienced dentist in the past that made me feel like I was at a jiffy lube trying to sell me wiper blades and a air filter. Not this place. Doctor Tram is upfront and never tries to do unnecessary work. All the support staff is also very friendly and professional. Very clean and modern facility also.

My wife and I went to Dr. Tram's office for our check up and cleaning procedure. They asked us to stay in our car before entering the office because of their COVID protocols. The wait time was not that long. The staff are ftiendly and helpful. Dr. Tram himself has an off-the-wall sense of humor which makes you welcome in his office. He is very knowledgeable and helped me understand what procedures my teeth might need. By the way! He is the one who answers reviews and chats when you ask questions or send reviews on google. I thought that was pretty cool.

I have not been to a dentist in years as I've had bad experiences and life always managed to get in the way. I know I needed a lot of work, but did not feel comfortable with any dentists in the area. I found one and made an appointment, they were nice enough, but they did not have a lot of newer technology nor were they cutting edge in their treatment plans. I came across Dr. Tram. I read every single review. I was impressed, but still hesitant. I canceled my first appointment and then forced myself to put on my big girl panties to attend the rescheduled appointment. Dr. Tram and their staff are amazing! Having retired from the military, my teeth were ready for some maintenance due to minimal gov care. Dr Tram conducted an evaluation, presented a plan, and to date is the best dentist I have ever been treated by. His injections are painless, he and his staff are seamlessly on top of every step and at no time in the last 3 years have I felt like I was not the priority during visits. I have had two wonderful experiences with dr Tran and his staff. I went to him to pull my wisdom teeth out. He and the staff were kind, funny and within 45 min I had 4 wisdom teeth extracted. I have minimal swelling and pain. It was about the most pleasant experience I think one could have for this procedure. Thank you!!!

As someone that has always hated anything and everything about the dentist, I can say Dr. Tram is a professional. I have had rough times in the dentist chair and at Kaio it was the first time I’ve felt comfortable enough to trust Dr. Tram and his team to work with me. They are all kind and have an incredible sense of humor which helped me with mu anxiety towards everything dental. I highly recommend his office if you are looking for a relaxed office that will adapt to each patient, especially if you are someone that struggles with the dentist.

Completely blown away so far! I have avoided the dentist for a LONG time due to poor experiences and PAIN but I found Kaio dental and I've had many root canals and extractions with Dr. Tram and each procedure has gone so smoothly and efficiently. They truly make you comfortable prior to starting and not once have I felt any pain...you don't even feel the shots its incredible...I had 3 root canals yesterday and I took one ibuprofen after the procedure because Dr. Tram told me to just in case for when numbing wore off but that's it...I don't even feel like i had any major work done its amazing! Dr. Tram is the best! A consummate professional, his work was thorough and gentle. He solved an issue I'd been having with a molar for nearly a year and a half in 2.5 hours. His bedside manner is excellent and put any concerns I had about the procedure to rest. Nurse Kate was also skilled and friendly.

I have worked for dentists and oral surgeons for about 30 years, and although I have worked with some good ones, I have never had one spend the time and personal attention as Dr Tram did with my grandsons problem with dentists. He is 22, but has always had SEVERE gagging issues and great anxiety with dentists. Dr Tram put him at ease and made him laugh, and broke the ice with him immediately. This dentistry is great! I've had some bad experiences in the past, but I'm so glad I came across Kaio. The staff is engaging, friendly, and helpful. They even have TVs set up that you can watch while getting your teeth worked on. I was also really nervous going to the dentist due to Covid, but they really took the necessary precautions. They have air filters, check your temp before going inside, and the staff wears a mask and a shield. I'd recommend Kaio to everyone who wants a great dentist experience!

Dr. Tram is an amazing dentist. I appreciate how he listened to my concerns and came up with a planned approach on how to tackle my teeth. (I have multiple teeth needing significant work) I never felt like he was trying to oversell me on more dental work than necessary. In actuality, his plan and approach was more reasonable and cost effective compared to other dentists I had seen. A huge bonus to all this is that he is really gentle when doing dental work. I would give 0 stars but the option is not there. I made an appointment via internet for an exam for my husband. We recieved an email regarding the confirmation of the appt. My husband shows up at the dentist and the lady at the front desk tells him there is no appt for him. The Lady stated that someone called him to cancel the appt. The cell phone did not show any calls from the office. There was no voicemail. There was no email canceling the appt. The lady was rude and told my husband, well there is no appt. Awful service. She could have at least asked him to set up another appt date and time

Dr. Tram and his staff are amazing. I haven't been to the dentist in so long and was very nervous but Dr. Tram is very personable and wants the best for his patience. I recently had 2 teeth pulled, a bone graft and a root canal all in one procedure ( I know it's a lot) but during the entire process I was checked on. I was terrified I would be in a lot of pain afterwards but so far I've been fine. I would definitely recommend Kaio Dental to anyone looking for a new dentist.

We just moved to CA and we needed to find a new dentist, and Yelp didn't let us down!
Just had my first check-up and cleaning and enjoyed every minute of it! Truly! Robin, who cleaned my teeth, and Dr Tram were super friendly and fun! I'm actually looking forward to coming back in 6 months, and I'll be bringing my son in as well.
Facility was comfortable, welcoming, and clean, and parking was easy.

Found Dr. Tram on Yelp and 100+ 5 stars can't be wrong! I was not disappointed. Kaio Dental is a clean and modern office that really makes you feel comfortable. My appointment was fast, easy, and most importantly, pain-free! Dr. Tram uses all the latest tech to make things more convenient for you. He fixed my tooth in one short visit. My mind was blown.
Another dentist would take two weeks and require a second visit (my boss would really love that), wearing a temporary that you can't chew on (or it'll fall out; ask me how I know), and being numbed once again! Can't say enough

I hated the dentist office!! I jumped around many dentist offices for the past 10 years of my life and I never went back. When I went in to Kaio Dental they reassured me and did everything within their possibilities to make me feel stress free. They are caring and they try and relate to your situation so they can help you relax. I would recommend Kaio to anyone looking for "Not" your average dentist. He is great at what he does.
