Services
Charles L. Hughes moved to Cordele in 1936 and served almost 40 years as a licensed Funeral Director. He passed away in 1996 and is survived by his wife Dell Faircloth Hughes. All of our licensed directors adhere to the highest standard of ethical practices and are committed to ensuring that all of your needs are attended to.
We pride ourselves on the functionality and appearance of our facilities. We are constantly updating and improving our premises and equipment to keep our facility within the highest of professional standards. The flexibility of our layout allows us to accommodate a broad range of services. Our facilities can support everything from very large assemblies to the smallest of quaint gatherings.
Almost every day, we receive thank you notes and cards from the families we've served.

Each of these heartfelt messages about our end-of-life care means more to us than we can express here, because it affirms the fact that we are doing what we set out to do when we opened our doors: help families celebrate, pay tribute to, and memorialize a loved one with compassionate attentive care, the highest-quality funeral products, and thorough professionalism.
When it comes time to care for a deceased loved one, you may feel overwhelmed and confused about the next steps and options. Our funeral home staff members are here and ready to help. Whether you'd like a funeral or a more creative celebration of life, we can assist you to select the funeral service options that hold the most meaning for you and your family.
Obituaries act as quiet reminders of the finite nature of our lives. Yet, for those who have recently experienced the death of a family member or friend, an obituary means so much more. It is a bittersweet reminder of all we've lost, but it can also help us to remember all we enjoyed while they were alive.

Been a family friend of my parents for over 40 years. They are the go to people when your world is upside down. Mr Charles buried both my parents and he really enjoyed our farms' produce so when your in need of a funeral home these guys rock!

Hughes and Wright was a light in a very difficult time for my family. My father passed away suddenly in Cordele while traveling home to us. We live in Florida and had to deal with the hospital and arrangements over the phone. After another funeral home treated us badly, we found Hughes and Wright. We called them at 7 in the evening while driving to Cordele from Florida. Tommy was amazing, he told us exactly who to call at the hospital so he could get my father’s body released. Less than half an hour later, he had my father at the funeral home. They stayed there until our family could arrive so

The Hughes and Wrights group has helped us through three close relatives funerals this year and they are the ones we will continue to go to with these needs. Tommy, Brandon, Dustin, Tony and Mr. Wright are very good at what they do in the worst of times, they are always patient with the family and have treated us well. I would recommend this funeral home over others. Thank you for making us feel like family.
