Services
Since 1906, when John A. Gentleman began serving families, our community has changed in many ways. Our firm also matured and changed to meet the needs of a growing community. From our humble beginning at 20th and Cuming Street we have been there to assist families in providing a final tribute to those who have died.
John A. Gentleman set personal attention as his first goal when he opened this firm in 1906, and today, our family continues to place your needs as our first priority. When we refer to "Service beyond the Service" you can be assured that the assistance your family receives during the course of a service continues after the funeral has ended.
When it comes to planning a funeral for the first time, or anytime really, it can seem a bit overwhelming. There are many things to keep in mind when planning the service, from the obituary all the way to what kind of flowers you want. At John A. Gentleman Mortuaries & Crematory, we're here for you every step of the way.
In recent decades, cremation has grown in popularity. In fact, according to the NFDA, the rate of cremation has already surpassed burial and will continue to do so. Due to this growing popularity, our funeral home is proud to offer cremation services in Omaha, NE. Cremation is when the deceased's body is placed in a cremation container and then incinerated, leaving ashes behind.

Buyer beware! My wife and I purchased a funeral plan from John A Gentleman for approx. $10,000 each. The plan is actually through National Guardian Life Insurance. I'm not sure which is the bigger crook! The 10yr plan to pay off the funeral plans would have cost us $20,000 each. The sales lady would make a good used car salesman. A simple… statement like "do you realize your combined $20,000 funerals will end up costing you $40,000" would have have been nice and enough to deter us from this ridiculous scam. Did she do anything illegal...probably not. Was how she presented the plan ethical

My girls and I recently lost Jim, husband and father, at the early age of 43. Shock, disbelief, and grief were all encompassing. I reached out to John A Gentleman upon referral from a friend who lost her husband just 4 days prior. We worked with Brian, and words can't express our gratitude. He took all the time we needed to go over steps,… process, things to think about, and was patient and compassionate throughout. At a time like this, that means the world. For him, and this funeral home as a whole, it's clear this is not just a job. They truly care for the families that rely on them to

This place is awesome!! We recently had to use them again for my father. The made the sad experience a little easier for my brother and sisters. They did such an awesome job on all our relatives whom passed… away over a twenty year time period including my grand daughter who was just a few weeks old when she passed away. I have nothing but great words for them. Thank you on behalf of the entire Harold F. Poppino family. God bless you all.
