Emotions are like waves. They come and they go and oftentimes they can become overwhelming. Stress, anxiety and depression are something we all deal with at some point in our journey. We want to help you navigate these waters and help restore balance and joy in your life. Currently, I am a second year graduate student at Houston Baptist University studying to get my Masters degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling.
My name is Sara Tanner, and I am a graduate Intern student at Liberty University, currently finishing my master's degree for my professional counseling license. At Changing Tides Counseling, we seek to help you gain complete healing for those in the Katy, Texas and surrounding areas.

The therapists at Changing Tides are highly trained compassionate counselors. They are skilled in the latest evidence based therapies and provide non-judgmental care for people struggling with depression, anxiety, trauma, relationship difficulties and a myriad of other issues. As a fellow therapist in the Katy area, I highly recommend their services.

Changing Tides Counseling and specifically Matthew Whalen are incredible therapists. Matt helped our family navigate through some very difficult times with our teenage son. He is extremely knowledgeable but more importantly very relatable and understanding to all family members involved. I would definitely recommend Matt and the therapist at Changing Tides Counseling for anyone requiring therapy. It’s always good to know that there is someone like Matt you can trust.

Matthew Whalen was originally my son’s counselor when he got out of a year long inpatient facility. He’s great with adolescents..... and mine was/is quite a challenge. Over time I have several sessions with him myself and found him extremely helpful in assisting me with my own malfunctions as well as offering better skills to deal with family stress. Highly recommended.
