A 1989 graduate of the University of Minnesota with a Bachelor of Arts, Wright raced on the Gopher Track and Cross County teams. Upon graduation, he attended the University of Wisconsin Law School in Madison, graduating cum laude in 1992. After admission to the bar, Wright began practicing law in Merrill in a variety of firms.

When I was young I made some bad choices, to say the least. Laufenberg was assigned my case. He did an independent investigation, without my knowledge, and turned that evidence into the district attorney without my knowing it. I found out in court when the DA said that they recovered a weapon.
I can't even believe the guy has a practice, I thought he was trying to get a law enforcement job, seeing as he did their job even in a defense attorney role.
