Our office provides patients with comprehensive patient-centered care. We tailor our dental care to each individual's unique situation. Unlike most dental offices, we have chosen to focus our care model around strong preventative care.
In practice this means that each patient gets to spend more time with our providers and our providers have an opportunity to gain a better understanding of each individual's overall health and specific risk factors for dental disease. Our goal is to provide each patient with quality personal attention so that they can develop a thorough understanding of their own dental health.

General dentistry is an inclusive term that refers to a dental office that provides routine dental care. Our office prides itself on offering compassionate care within the scope of our abilities. Both Dr. Young and Dr. Marlin complete rigorous continuing education yearly to remain at the forefront of their profession and to offer the latest forms of dental care to their patients.
Cosmetic dentistry involves the improvement of a person's natural appearance. For a variety of reasons people can suffer from developmental abnormalities that can cause their teeth to be unsightly. Examples of common developmental abnormalities include tooth crowding or spacing, weakened enamel, jaw discrepancies (poorly aligned jaws) and darkened tooth shade.
Gum tissue recession can occur for a number of reasons. Most commonly gum tissue recession starts when the gums are abraded and harmed by the use of a medium or stiff bristled tooth brush. Aggressive tooth brushing will cause the gum tissues to recede over time. People who clench or grind their teeth are also often predisposed to suffering from gum tissue recession due to the severe forces that can be placed on their teeth and supporting tissues.
Often times we are asked can't you just place a filling in the tooth? Why does it need a crown? These are great questions and now days the great diversity of filling materials that are available have made these decisions more complex. Typically, the decision to place a crown or a filling depends largely on the amount of remaining natural tooth structure and the location of the tooth in the mouth.
For much of the last 100 years dentists routinely relied on the use of complete dentures, removable partial dentures and fixed partial dentures (more commonly referred to as "bridges") to replace missing teeth. Over the past 30 years the widespread use of dental implants has completely changed the approach that is taken to replacing missing teeth.

I am not a fan of going to the dentist BUT I believe I am a fan of Dentist Young AND his office! Everyone including Elizabeth at the front desk and Mackenzy who took me back were helpful, friendly, professional and so caring. I was dreading going to a new dentist with my recent move to Alaska but Dr Young put me at ease and took his time to examine and ask questions to ascertain the best treatment plan. I usually feel doctors can be so distracted and rushed to get through the ‘queue’ but this was the opposite. THANK YOU!

I highly recommend Dr. Lani Marlin and Dr. Evan Young. They are amazing dentists who practice excellent dentistry, care about their patients and have the best bedside manner. They have knowledgeable and kind staff who make you feel comfortable when you first walk in the door to sitting in the chair. I thankful to have found them for my dental office.

Just came from my New Patient Exam and Cleaning at Midnight Sun Smiles and was thoroughly delighted with my experience.
Their safety protocol was well established and made you feel very comfortable using their office during Covid and all the risks involved. Upon arriving I met with the x-ray technician who took my temperature, & measured my Oregon level. She had me wash my hands and gargle with a peroxide mouthwash, then took my x-rays. When she was done I saw the dentist next.
Dr. Marlin gave a very thorough exam explaining everything she was looking for on my X-rays. She took time to discuss

Best dentist ever. They are always in a good mood and they hang onto staff forever. I started seeing Dr. Hipsher when I was too young to remember. When he retired, I suddenly became terrified of the dentist and didn't go for 5 years! Dr. Young is the dentist who took over Hipsher's practice; they worked together for a few years before Hipsher retired. I finally went in because my mom was nagging me incessantly and felt silly because I had nothing to fear! They still have the same office staff they had when I was a kid, and the quality of service is impeccable. You can tell Dr. Young loves teeth

My husband and I switched to Midnight Sun Smiles from another local dentist's office about 4 years ago, and can't recommend this practice highly enough. In the time we've been going to Midnight Sun Smiles, every interaction we've had with receptionists, hygienists and Dr. Young has been warm, welcoming and professional. Their team does a great job of making us feel cared about as patients, which we really value.

I love this group! They truly care about their patients and go out of their way to help. Dr Young is kind and professional and very thorough! Amanda is, in my opinion, the best hygenist ever! The receptionists are always cheerful and friendly and have helped me with several different issues such as appointment mix-ups (my fault) and getting info while I was out of state. I can’t say enough!!

Dr. Young has been my dentist for the last five years and, as a dental professional myself, I can honestly say I hold him in the highest regard. Dr. Young has all the attributes one would look for in a dentist; he is skilled, ethical, conscientious and extremely personable with a chair side manner second to none. If you are looking for a quality family dentist I would highly recommend Dr. Young, Dr. Marlin and their staff.
