Services
Play therapists are fully licensed clinicians just like the clinical staff listed above, with the addition of specialized training in treating problems with children using the natural language and process of play. Play therapists that have completed training and supervised clinical hours are recognized with the RPT (registered play therapist) credential from the Association of Play Therapy.
West Texas Counseling & Guidance (WTCG) has a vision for the Concho Valley: not one more death by suicide. Many of our neighbors struggle daily with depression, anxiety, PTSD, grief, and hopelessness. For some, intense emotional pain can become overwhelming and, if left unaddressed and untreated, have dire consequences for our community.
No cost training to learn how to be part of our local LOSS Team. LOSS stands for Local Outreach to Survivors of Suicide. The LOSS team is made up of volunteers, mental health professionals and survivors of suicide (someone who has lost a loved one to suicide), and goes to scenes of suicide to provide support for people who have just lost someone to suicide.
WTCG is a growing 501c3 that offers competitive compensation and benefits. WTCG has experienced just over 60% growth in staff in the last 3 years in order to meet the rising demand for our services. We are always interested in hearing from qualified LCSWs, LPCs, LMFTs, LCDCs, Licensed Clinical Psychologists, or other mental health professionals.
Our therapists tailor their interventions to each client so the frequencies of appointments and length of treatment vary based upon the needs of each client. Our average number of sessions for clients is about 5 sessions. A full course of CBT will typically be 12-16 sessions. CPT is around 12 sessions.

My children were patients of Lisa Sobrero. I took them to help them cope with our current divorce and my ex’s abuse. At first it was fine. I didn’t see that it was of any benefit to them, but they enjoyed going, since they had to miss school.
One day Lisa sits me down and berates me for not facilitating more time for the children to see their father. I explain that he is abusive (which is something I had told her numerous times before) and I am following the advice of my lawyer. In response, she fired my children as her patients.
Her words stayed in my heart and even though it went against

WTGC offers very important services for the people of our community. I have used their counseling services, volunteered for some of their programs and also attended some of their community events. These people exist to help and to get people help for their needs. I am proud to use their services and proud to know the kind people who work there.

It took me a really long time to find a great therapist, but once I did it was so worth it. This place is amazing and really cares about you and your well being. The staff is probably the kindest front desk staff I've ever encountered. Also, if you have tricare, you don't have to pay for sessions. Really give this place a try, it'll be worth it.

Mom's view.
We had a crisis and I had called to see if we could get in with someone. Within the week they had us in with someone online. Ari didn't normally see children but she took us anyways. The online option is amazing to. My son really loves that he can sit at home in his comfort zone while we works with her. We did see Maryam while ari was away and she was amazing as well. They are really kind and my son feels like he is able to open up. Love them. If you need a place i would definitely say check it out. 💙

The counselor's here are so nice and caring, they take time to get to know you as well as any family there to support you through your rough patch. Also the receptionists are so sweet and call you by name immediately when you get there and know who you are the to see. Keep up the great work y'all are doing.
