If you own a trucking company or are an Independent Owner Operator engaged in the business of transporting goods, you must have a Primary Auto Liability policy before beginning operations. Primary Auto Liability insurance is required by law. A "For-Hire" trucker operating under their own authority must have Primary Auto Liability insurance in order to obtain a filing as required by the Federal Motor Carrier.
For-Hire truckers and all Motor Carriers should consider purchasing Trucker's General Liability. It pays for injuries or property damage you cause as a result of business activities not directly related to operating your truck. Actions of a driver while representing the insured and on the premises of others, such as: loading docks, truck stops, etc.
Trinity Insurance has been my agency since I started my business in 2012. They always go above and beyond, helping me with any insurance matters that arise. There are few companies left who don't make you press 0 to speak to a live body, or who will answer your calls after-hours. Even if we wanted a lower rate, we'd always stay with Trinity Insurance.
It may be likely that when asked about your driving career and what all it involves, you're able to rattle off some answers like: far from home, little sleep, heavy loads, big rigs, lots of waiting, gas stops, and rest stops. But there is so much more to the freight industry that you should appreciate yourself for.

When you sign up for a insurance policy they will ask you the value of your truck which is supposed to be what your covered for they say if there is ever a total loss. Naturally when pulling trailers you have extra cost setting your truck up to haul with hitches, fuel tanks, delete kits to help with idling hours etc. As most you will give a amount because you have all that extra money you spent, the more the amount the more they will charge you and the more coverage you are supposed to have. When or if there is a total loss, they will then tell you it is out of their hands and the amount is up
