My parents are in their 80s. Yesterday they discovered they had a flat tire after hitting a pothole. They pulled into Honest Engine. The mechanic had finished for the day but readily volunteered to change the tire for them and then refused to take any $ in compensation. I cannot thank this man enough for his kindness to my parents! Honest and compassionate as well.

Sadly, after many years of having my repairs done at Honest Engine Fair Oaks, I am moving on to other repair facilities. In the beginning, Brian's estimates were in line with other estimates, a little high once in a while. Over time, I no longer got other estimates, trusting Honest Engine to be at least pretty competitive. However, on my last repair yesterday, I was charged $396.00 for a REBUILT alternator, when a BRAND NEW Autolite Ford alternator from Folsom Lake Ford would be $313.00. The average retail price for a rebuilt alternator for my vehicle online is around $130. I am sure

I just left there and I met with a guy named Brian he was extremely honest straightforward to the point and told me exactly what I needed to do. Since I moved from New York to California I have been looking for an honest mechanic and I believe Brian is the perfect candidate hopefully he will accept me as his new patient lol he was even nice enough to give me some license plate covers for my new car so I will be sporting his business Everywhere I Go!!!

We brought our GMC truck in because the oil light went on. It took about 2 hours for Honest Engine to look over the vehicle and make sure there wasn't a problem. By the time we left we felt confident they had addressed the problem.
In addition, they added about 2.5 quarts of oil to the vehicle and only charged for 2 quarts. They also charged a flat rate of $60 for the service, which seemed reasonable for dissecting an unidentified problem.

They had my car for 4 days for a diagnosis and they really didnt do much at all! They also quoted me for a leaking rear seal at one of my wheels, $800 bucks! I popped the wheel off and looked at the brakes and it was a leaky master cylinder which cost me 15 to replace myself with a socket set and the seal was still intact... As soon as I got my car back I took it to get smogged, and the smog tech did more work on it than this place! And he only had it for 1 day and charged me about the same price plus 2 smogs!! After the smog place worked on it I noticed it ran and started significantly smoother

Very organized, clean and reasonable shop. I took my Toyota in since the fan was making a lot of noise and not blowing air. Brian quoted the cost of labor and replacement of fan. Once inside the fan had junk in it and didn't need replacing. Rather replacing a working part the shop cleaned the fan and just charged for labor.

Brian was very helpful. I had a problem with some loose undercarriage plastic. I was thinking about trying to fix it myself (someday), but I figured I'd check with Honest Engine. He took care of it really fast, saved me a ton of future headaches, and helped me with some other minor issues. I'll be back the next time I have something (major or minor) for sure.

I drove in around 8:30 one morning - didn't have an appt, never been a customer or even set foot on their lot before - when the plastic under belly cover behind my front bumper had come loose in one spot and was dragging on the road, all set to self destruct very quickly. The tire pressure light came on in my Ford Edge. I called Honest Engine this morning at 7:45 to see if I could bring it in to get it checked. I live around the corner, so said I'd be there in a few minutes. I don't know the gentleman's name who spoke to me, but he said "sure".
