Services
The benefits of Gracie Barra Brazilian Jiu Jitsu are far reaching and will touch every aspect of your life. At Gracie Barra Glendale, our students become leaders. Gracie Barra nurtures your independent thinking, supports your fighting spirit, and helps you achieve your personal BJJ goals. Through GB BJJ, you will begin to understand yourself, on and off the mats, in ways you never imagined.
This half hour class, held Twice a week, is designed for those children who are only 3 or 4 and/or not 100% ready to jump into the regular classes just yet. We work on the class structure, many drills to improve their still developing hand-eye coordination, and always get in the foundation of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.
The first time you come to our school you will be welcomed by our staff. Please arrive 15 minutes before class so you and your children have enough time to prepare for practice. The class will start on time and your child will be asked to walk to the training area where the instructor will be waiting for him or her.

After trying out various BJJ academies, I discovered that Gracie Barra Glendale was the best choice. The mats are kept clean and disinfected often. Professor Robert (an established black belt) teaches his own classes which I found refreshing compared to other gyms where brown belts would teach... You always want a black belt (professor) teaching you and actively supervising the class. I really appreciate that and I feel safe every time I practice/roll. I've never had one instance where a more experienced person tried to bully me or be a creep. (If you go to other gyms, watch out for this

A couple of years ago my brother got me into BJJ, unfortunately I injured myself pretty quickly (my fault, gifted with a weak hernia), by the time I healed the pandemic happened. I've since been vaccinated and eager to get back to it. I have been looking for a place to practice that caters to the vaccinated, and finally I found a place and I couldn't be happier. When I reached out professor Robert replied and made me feel at home. I am so appreciative and feel like I have new home I can freely and safely practice. Professor Marvin teaches the vaccinated class, very thorough in his teachings

Both my 8 & 10 year old girls have been attending Jiujitsu lessons at Garcie Barra for about 7 months now and I cannot be happier. Both Prof Robert & Amanda are just an amazing husband and wife team that are always on top of things no matter how busy the day is. They are friendly, warm and approachable and very flexible. It feels more like a family environment than going into a business when I drop my kids off. My kids love and look forward to attending the lessons and feel so proud when they move a grade up. I have also recommended friends to join and for the kids, there is nothing better

Professor Robert and Professor Amanda are awesome!

This school has a very family friendly atmosphere and the training is world class.

They have a very good kids program...I highly recommend trying one of their free classes.

I always make it a point to train here when I'm in town.

This place is awesome. The instructors are understanding and teach with the student in mind. Advancement is given when you’ve shown your achievements and knowledge.
Would recommend.

I have a 3 year old son in Tiny Champs but it appears there lack of instructors the center has decided to combine Tiny Champs with little champs up to 6 years old. It has been horrible. A 3 year old and 6 year child have different attention spans! And the new coach is teaching at a 6 year old lever to a 3 year old. Quality has been diluted so much, but I'm sure it's coast effective.

I don't want to write a long story, short to the point. I had been looking for a nice, clean, friendly and focused teaching place. I did check out many gyms but the first week at Gracie Barra Glendale got my attention. I have been going here for almost a year now and I just love it. It is like a family and everyone is really caring. Needless to say that Professor Robert is just amazing, and so is every other instructor.
I would suggest not reading many reviews, just go to the gym and give them a try for a week. Go everyday and see if you see and feel what you like.

Gracie Barra Glendale is a wonderful jiu-jitsu school for virtually everyone. Whether it is self-defense, sport, competition, or just a challenging way to stay physically fit, Gracie Barra Glendale exceeds all of my expectations. Professors Robert and Amanda have created a fantastic environment that can serve the needs of everyone who walks through their doors. My 6 year old son also loves attending his classes and learning in a supportive, yet disciplined environment. Awesome place!

Just as with most things, you never really know what you have until it's gone. This is the case with the Gracie Barra family in Glendale and this review is long overdue.

My 2 children attended this academy only for a few months because we had to move. Now that we are attending a new gym, it has made me more appreciative of Gracie Barra Glendale because they truly are one of, if not the best. I type this with experience from other GB and non GB gyms to compare it to.

What makes this location different:

There is something about this location where you can literally feel the respect. It doesn

When I decided to start BJJ, I did so much research. I read through countless reviews, looked at pictures, watched videos, etc. but regardless of all that time and effort, it didn't come close to the real experience. This sport, lifestyle and training at this academy has changed my life.

GB Glendale is as good as it gets. Regardless of the color of your belt, you're never just a number or get lost in the mix. Professor Robert is a great instructor who builds rapport, tracks your progress and has an overall interest in the growth of his students.

The classes are always well-structured

My son has been going here the last year and a half and he enjoys it. He enjoys the coaches and they help him build his confidence up. They cater to his age and make sure they give instructions that a 5 years old can understand.

I only recently started at Gracie Barra Jiu Jitsu in Glendale, but I've been studying martial arts for a few years. After a lot of hunting around for a great martial arts studio, Gracie Barra is the best one I've ever found and I'm excited to begin my jiu jitsu journey with Professor Robert and all the other great coaches.

If you're considering studying martial arts, whether to increase your confidence, become physically fit, or to learn self-defense, I highly recommend you try a class at Gracie Barra. The atmosphere is supportive, the other students have a great attitude

The most friendly club I have been to, professor Robert is fantastic and very supportive. There are a lot of classes to choose from, and alternative classes like no-gi, advanced, pure rolling and competition training (which is intense!).

The club is super hygienic and the mats are cleaned and sanitised daily.

They offer a free week which is a good way to get to know if the club is for you, also they have a good deal to get your first month and club gi for one low price!

I have a learned a lot, become so much healthier and become much better at dealing with stress since I started training

Professor Robert Hill is a great Black Belt BJJ instructor. The location is excellent with plenty of parking available. Portos is right next door! The classes are great for both adults and kids. The facility is always very clean and there is so much mat space upstairs and downstairs. There are also students of all belts.

Gracie Barra Glendale is incredible. I've been training here for over four years now and it is still fun and exciting. Professor Robert and Professor Amanda are amazing instructors and I feel very privileged to train with them both.

If you are considering a place to train and are in the area this is the one. Again, after four plus years I still enjoy training here as much or even more than I did when I first walked through the door.

My experience here remains 10/10.

My son had some lessons from other schools but so far his classes here at Gracie Barra had been the best. Aside from the actual Jiujitsu lessons, the instructors instill good values in them and teaches them discipline that they can bring home. My son is getting stronger and has found something he is really invested in. The place is clean and has a little area for toddlers to play at. They also now installed a water station for the kids so we don't have to bring our own water coz we sometimes forget. It's easy to find parking as well since there's a big lot just behind it.

My daughter has been coming here since last oct. All the instructors are great. I recommend that all girls take a self defense class.
I can truly see that this marital art is applicable in real life. Being a father of a daughter. I can truly say i sleep better a night-knowing my daughter will one day be able to take care of herself. The atmosphere here at the gym is always very friendly. There are whole families taking jiu jitsu, they even have a mommie and me class for the little ones. If you love close to burbank, this is the one I recommend

I no longer train BJJ, but this is where I started 4-5 years ago. If you are looking for a Dojo to feel right at home and part of a family, then look no further. GBG is your place.

The instructors are kind and warm-hearted people. The drilling of techniques and overall structure of the class is professional and ensures you learn the technique quite well.

The sparring, or rolling, is absolutely fun and made not to be intense or light depending on your partner.

Professor Robert Hill is a superb mentor and instructor as he guided me to my first tournament which I placed 2nd in. Not bad for a

My son attends Gracie Barra in Glendale and as someone that never wants to do anything physical, he actually loves jiu jitsu. He's such a fan that he attends 6 to 7 times a week. (He's been attending class since August 2012.)

I should also mention that my son is "special needs." Professor Robert has been nothing but welcoming. His coaches are extremely positive and I'm sure being positive is a big reason why my son continues to go daily.

Next step for my son is sparring once he gets over the apprehension. Thanks Gracie Barra.
