Gaea uses information gathered from historic aerial photographs, historic maps, and public records to determine the hydrologic changes that have taken place of a particular site over time. With this information, we determine the most likely causes for these changes and detail the impacts of these changes.
Gaea Consultants provided multiple services to support the completion of Encroachment Plans and NEPA documentation for an Environmental Assessment of a proposed development of a new terminal at the Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport.
Gaea evaluated the proposed action and each reasonable alternative for effects on natural and beneficial floodplain values, including encroachment, significant encroachment, and potential measures to minimize potential harm.Gaea also addressed the presence of wetlands and threatened or endangered species and investigated the water quality in the areas of each project alternative relative to the encroachment analysis.

Gaea Consultants was responsible for addressing the environmental documentation requirements set forth by the US Coast Guard to obtain a permit for the replacement of the Hermitage Bayou Bridge in Plaquemines Parish. We performed a site investigation and compiled a final report for approval.

Gaea Consultants prepared a hydrologic impact report for the restoration of the Central Wetlands Unit, an area that contains approximately 22,000 acres of wetlands in St. Bernard Parish. The purpose of this report was to evaluate the impact of potential wetland assimilation and restoration activities on operations in the Lake Borgne Basin Levee District.
East Carroll Parish Police Jury awarded Gaea a prime contract to provide engineering services on eight drainage projects throughout the Parish. The projects are funded by the FEMA Hazard Mitigation Grant Program. Gaea employees conducted a site visit to document the current drainage situation in the Parish.
