In these times of change and a shortage of qualified workers, and the increasing demand of sick pets and wellness visits, we need to give our full attention to the health and wellness of the pets we see. We have chosen to focus our resources fully on Veterinary Medicine and Surgery to best serve our community.
We are no longer able to offer boarding and bathing services. As we say goodbye to this part of our clinic, we are thankful to move forward in a way that allows us to best care for the pets and people around us. We thank you for your understanding, and look forward to continuing to provide medical care for your beloved pets.

Services
Our clinic is staffed with three veterinarians, Dr. Karen Young, who is the owner, and Dr. Esther Grissom and Dr. Jennifer Benton, who are here part time. We also staff veterinary technicians and assistants, receptionists and office managers. All of our team are trained formally through a degree and licensing program, certification program, and/or receive on-the-job training.
We know that many pets and owners experience stress and anxiety associated with taking a pet to the veterinarian. That fear can easily lead to negative, even traumatic, experiences for pets and people. As part of the Fear Free movement in veterinary medicine, we work to reduce feelings of stress, resulting in a better experience for all involved.
Dr. Karen Young was born in Ontario, Canada and grew up in Duncanville, Texas. During her undergrad years at Texas A&M, she began hearing about Christian Veterinary Mission (CVM) and the veterinarians serving in various countries around the world. She attended vet school with the desire to work with CVM after graduation.
Marissa was born and raised in El Paso, Texas. She moved to Arlington with her family in 2014 after graduating high school. She graduated from Cedar Valley College in 2019 with an Associates in Veterinary Technology. Marissa and her husband have a dog named Coco and a cat named Kiah. In her free time she likes to spend time in the Lord's word and craft home decor.
We are confident that you will feel right at home in our office as we welcome our clients and patients as old friends. Payment is required at the time of service. Forms of payment accepted are check, cash, Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express, and CareCredit. We make every effort to provide an estimate for surgeries and hospitalizations.

I was referred to Sanford Oaks by a friend who raved about their excellent customer service and genuine staff members. When I arrived, I was not disappointed. From the receptionist, to the tech, to the vet, I felt beyond heard and able to share my concerns without feeling judged. Overall, I am so glad that I was referred here and I will continue to bring my senior pom.

You will not find a better veterinarian and staff in the metroplex than Dr Kirby and his staff. Dr. Kirby has been taking care of our animals for many years. He and his staff give wonderful care to senior animals as well as puppies and kittens. The ladies in the office are caring, kind and they truly care about the animals they take care of. You can call with problems and they will patiently help you over the phone and work you in as their schedule allows. This place is truly wonderful.

The staff was very gentle and seemed to genuinely care about each one of my cats. One cat was extremely ill and did not eat for three weeks. They fed him through a tube and kept him for a long time...until his fever broke. Then they sent him home with me so that I could feed him critical care cat food with a syringe until he started eating. They helped me keep the price as low as possible by sending him home once the fever broke and it was safe for him to come home. Once he began to eat again, he has been a happy, active cat ever since. I wish this clinic was closer to my house because I
