Services
While working for a firm as a Controller in downtown Chicago, Jessica decided to start a small tax business. It began mostly with preparing tax returns for friends and colleagues and has grown exponentially from there. Originally located in the South Loop of Chicago, Reed Accounting worked closely with individuals in that area and throughout Chicago on their tax returns.
Yes, we can prepare your taxes, even if you are unable to meet with us in person. We work with many clients virtually. You can provide all of your tax documents to us via mail, email or SmartVault (a secure file sharing portal). We can then work together to complete your return. You first need to get a PIN if you haven't done so previously.

I was feeling overwhelmed about moving my strength and nutrition coaching business from California to Evanston, but after about 5 minutes of speaking with Jessica a huge weight was lifted off my shoulders. I also had a range of complicated tax questions that she answered right away, and most importantly came up with a plan on the spot for how to move forward. It's such a confidence-booster to have access to this kind of expertise, particularly from a fellow local business owner. As an added bonus, she's super-friendly and personable.

This was my first year using Reed Accounting for my personal and small business taxes and I definitely plan to return next year. I was really impressed by the team's thoroughness, attention to detail, solid and personalized financial advice, excellent communication (Sonja defines professionalism) and very reasonable cost - especially when compared to "name brand" services I've used in the past. But I should probably be careful what I say - if they treat their other customers like they treated me, it's probably only a matter of time before they become a name brand themselves

This is my second year having Ms. Reed do my taxes. I would say my taxes are above average in complexity for an individual and involve multiple states. I am not qualified to judge the quality of work, but I can say:
-She is quick to respond to emails
-She is willing to listen
-Her team is good about compiling information I send
-Has reasonable fees
-Easy to communicate with
I do not believe anyone is perfect so if I was pressed to suggest an area of improvement: I wish she had more emphasis on tax planning/strategies to save before time to file.

My husband and I had scheduled an initial consultation with Lupe since Jessica was booked for this month. We were supposed to drop off our documents with Lupe and she would start the process. Then we would schedule to meet with Jessica. But since we arrived early and with our approval, Lupe prepared our tax return. However, Jessica actually had time to review our documents before we left.
Both of them have great customer service skills. They are very pleasant, professional, patient
