I was raised in Honey Grove, a small town community in East Texas, and a graduate of Harlingen High, in Harlingen, Texas in 1985. I attended Dallas institute of Funeral Service and graduated in 1986. I received my Funeral Director and Embalmer licenses in November of 1987. I worked fifteen years for a funeral home in Mesquite, Texas, where we served over three hundred families a year.
When it comes to your final arrangements, shouldn't you make the decisions? The arrangements you make will reflect your exact wishes and desires. Pre-arranging your own service will help to ease the burden of your loved ones. It will also alleviate any questions, problems or differences, which can occur among family members.
The basic Military Funeral Honors (MFH) ceremony consists of the folding and presentation of the United States flag to the veterans' family and the playing of Taps. The ceremony is performed by a funeral honors detail consisting of at least two members of the Armed Forces. The Funeral Honors rendered to you or your veteran will be determined by the status of the veteran.
The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) furnishes upon request, at no charge to the applicant, a Government headstone or marker for the unmarked grave of any deceased eligible veteran in any cemetery around the world, regardless of their date of death. When the grave is already marked, applicants will have the option to apply for either a traditional headstone or marker, or a new device (available spring 2009).

Our son was tragically killed recently and this was the most difficult time in our life.
Dan and Karen and their staff were so gracious and led us through this process.
It was a beautiful Service. I am so thankful that we chose them and I truly think of them as friends. They went above and beyond as the saying goes to help us through this difficult time and had so many wonderful suggestions. I can't say enough about how compassionate and kind they were during this difficult time.

Dan, Karen and their staff are the sweetest, most loving people who genuinely care about your family and loved one. We have had to use Hiett's Lybrand Funeral Home twice in the past 1 1/2 years and have had absolutely NOT one complaint or issue. Everything we needed they knew before we did and were so gracious about helping us through such hard times. They are real people not stuffy ole funeral owners. At times, when we needed a laugh, they knew just what to say! The times we needed a hug, they were there to do just that. I would highly recommend them to anyone.
