Great instructors, great environment, would recommend to anyone who wants to learn self defense and great for kids!
My son has enjoyed working with these instructors for two years now and he loves it. The Journells are great instructors. They seem to have the balance of making classes fun and friendly but firm and disciplined too. They also go the extra mile being available before and after class to talk with parents even taking time to sew the class patches, order uniforms, and equipment too.

I drive 30 minutes north just to go to this place and have been very very pleased. Multitude of instructors, and as one of the negative commenters stated lower belts teaching hirer belts is not accurate. Yes a combination of mixed belts train together at times and lower belts have done warm-ups. I feel everything is explained correctly, everybody is professional and the environment is comfortable. It is worth the 30 minute drive to go north for this studio.

this is an excellent school that looks out for its members! having some health issues, they have worked with me so i can still participate in class. also offers added techniques from various styles to help make you a more rounded martial artist. its like a family. super great! :)

My boys ages 5 and 8 are enjoying attending classes at Troy Martial Arts. They are getting great exercise, social interaction and structure, as well as learning to defend themselves. We notice them gaining confidence also. The facility is clean and well staffed, the instructors are friendly and knowledgeable, great at getting the kids moving and staying focused.
We look forward to continuing at Troy Martial Arts!

This "school" is trash. I'm sorry - I really don't say this from a place of anger, I actually waited several weeks after my kid's split from TMA to make sure I could write something after reflecting a bit.
Remember Cousin Eddie from Christmas Vacation - if he ran a martial arts studio it would be Troy Martial Arts. Let me explain.
Problem 1: Owners are unorganized and greedy. Bad combo. Rules and rates constantly change, the offer "specials" like letting kids have relaxed uniform rules if they wear a TMA shirt - expect the color of the shirt changes every month

When Troy Martial Arts opened their doors they WERE good but now the practices/control have slipped away from them. Children can go to daycare and have more training. I know I watched it happen. I have seen everything from fidgeting, yawning, twirling, chatting it up, dodge ball and very little teaching of technique or discipline. The owner Chris is totally unprofessional and only interested in your money, not your child. PARENTS BEWARE spend your hard earned money on something your child will benefit from. I speak to the parents because an adult would NEVER make a choice to train for Martial Arts

Excellent place to train and learn. Wonderful non-profit organization that does numerous of activities to focus on the family and communities. They even put on anti-abduction classes quarterly to help educate the public of dangerous human trafficking; how to recognize and avoid these situations, as well as basic life saving self defense techniques. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THEM!
