S. J. Wood Construction Company was established in 1980 by Stephen J. Wood and incorporated in 1983. Originally intending to follow the family tradition of becoming an engineer, Steve soon realized that his interests were more varied than working with a slide rule. Beginning with a new truck payment and a few of the basic tools, Stephen started out as a one man operation building only one home per year.

Wood Construction Company grew steadily for a 15 year period to the point where we felt we could offer a valuable service with customer satisfaction in both custom residential and light commercial construction as well as construction management. We have remained at that level since, with no intentions of growing any larger.

I would always ask them first for any job.
I first chose them because they had done the renovation of the Bailey Library in Winthrop, the, then, next town over, so covered regularly. I threw an 1840 former one room schoolhouse at them. I then threw a farmhouse from 1900. A formal contract is created. The project undertaken, with change orders as needed. Everyone polite and professional. Completion as contracted and priced.
