LaClef Construction is a third-generation post frame building company. It was born in 1996 when a laid-off father of three (Scott LaClef) was approached by a local businessman named Eldon Petersen. Scott had worked for Eldon and his son Terry off and on in the 1980s. Eldon asked Scott if he wanted to start building Wick buildings as a sub-contractor.
Scott obliged and started erecting buildings with a 4020 tractor with a post-hole digger on the back and a loader bucket with a makeshift boom attachment. Scott enlisted the help of his father and father-in-law and worked this way for a couple of years. Eventually, Scott was able to buy his first skid loader and hire a couple of full-time employees.
