Services
San Diego is a vibrant city that attracts millions of tourists each year. However, if you are looking for truly unique shopping in San Diego, you must visit Bazaar del Mundo in Old Town. This one-of-a-kind shopping destination is located conveniently in the heart of San Diego, but once you step onto these cobbled streets, you will swear you have been transported into an old Mexican market.
In 1769, Father Junipero Serra established the first of 21 Spanish missions on a hill above what is now known as Old Town San Diego. The Spanish established the string of missions in their attempt to colonize California. In the 1820s, a Mexican community was established at the base of the hill. So many adobes had been built by 1835, that the community came to be known as El Pueblo de San Diego.
Located in the historic Old Town and Mission Valley district of San Diego, this specialty shopping is unlike any other. Bazaar del Mundo is the perfect place to find unique gifts from around the world for yourself or one that you love. Color, personality and handcrafted artistry merge together in this vibrant San Diego gift shop district.
San Diego has long been valued as a tourist destination for a number of reasons. In addition to the nearly perfect weather and its close proximity to other popular areas, many people who enjoy the melding of the Mexican and European cultures will find that the city has numerous references to it in the form of architecture, art and more.
Whether you are a local, or visiting from out of town, a stop by Bazaar del Mundo is not just a quick shopping trip, it is an event. The atmosphere at Bazaar del Mundo is festive, authentic and inviting. Shoppers can stroll throughout the many shops, soaking in the vibrant colors, rich textiles and the beauty of handcrafted, one-of-a-kind items.

My husband and I came here for the 50th anniversary of Bazaar del Mundo (and also the anniversary of two of the restaurants such as Casa de Pico). There was a wonderful number of artisans present with their wares for sale, musicians were performing on a stage and the atmosphere festive. An added bonus was meeting Diane Powers herself in one of the shops and chatting with her for a bit. We are long time patrons of her restaurants and shops. Love them all!

Very quaint little gift shop. Very nice merchandise available, although pricey. There are stairs to more merchandise, so if you are handicapped or have any difficulty with steep steps, the second floor will be unavailable to you, unless you know what's up there, and they said they would go get it for you. (Not really sure how you would know what's up there, if you can't get up there in the first place)

Way overpriced goods with plenty of cultural commercializing of many different Mexican cultures. They upsell
Mexican artistry 400% higher than what it’s sold on the other side
Of the border. Celebrating 50 years of
Cultural appropriation here. The owner is not Mexican or Hispanic of any kind and has profited off of stealing culture for half a century

Lovely items well overpriced and the lady behind the counter could not multi-task to save her life. She seemed to have trouble concentrating. The majority of the time I was there, and she spent trying to help a very unhappy shopper.

I am NOT a shopper-type but this is the best place to find cool gifts for anyone. I would not bring any of our granddaughters here because the place would be way too over-stimulating. Other than that, check it out. Also you can get lunch next door at Guadalajara.

My favorite shop of its kind outside Mexico. In fact, this wonderful store sells housewares, art, books, jewelry and clothing from many countries but everything exudes a Mexican vibe. What makes the place really special is how beautifully all the items are curated. You'll find very high quality things and incredibly beautiful as well. The emphasis is on authenticity and craftsmanship. Nothing is dirt cheap but many things are very affordable. They also have sales, like Christmas ornaments right after the holidays.
I've always found the sales people to be super nice and helpful. The place is laid

The first time I shopped in BDM was when they were located inside old town back in 2005. Since the pandemic started I've done my best to support long-standing local businesses. I decided to head out to BDM and buy a tapestry. I found their costumer service very condescending and rude, they treat people like they're shoplifters. They are quite out of touch. In a time when online business are selling the same wares for less money and less attitude, BDM should rethink their staffing. It's not doing them any favors. The tapestry is beautiful but I don't think I will shop or recommend

As always, the best shopping in the Southwest. Bright, cheerful, a fun place to browse, shop, or a source for decorating your entire home.
Just bought a lovely piece of Mexican garden art, half price of many other shops north of the border.
I love to support local business owners, brick and mortar. See it before you buy!

Super cute shopping center with lots of little tienditas. The shop that had the pastelitos, also had Mexican hot chocolate, Abuelita brand, mmmm. The churros were fresh, hot and delish!!!😃
The place is mostly a tourist trap with super expensive, but gorgeous Mexican made dolls, clothes, blankets etc and lots of food ! Even a restaurant in the center

Our jaws dropped from the second we walked in. The richness of the colors, the warmth of the staff, the hardest part was not wanting to buy everything in the store.

Absolutely love this place! My girlfriend and I will make it a point to stop by here on our visits to San Diego.

Great place to but some old authentic items. Most of the stores are small shops with over priced items. It is nice to walk around and look. Its interesting and relaxing.

TIP: It has one of the few FREE parking lots in the area.

I had always entered Old Town San Diego from the other end, so was tired 2/3rds of the way through. This time I started at Bazaar Del Mundo and realized what I had been missing! Instead of the usual touristy stuff, this shopping area had upscale merchandise. The shops were colorful and offered many items I hadn't seen elsewhere. The salespeople were very nice about answering all of my many questions.

Also, Casa Guadalajara was next door -- an excellent choice for lunch or dinner.

Nice shop with fun items, however the worst experience ever: I live in San Diego, we LOVE everything about Old Town, avoid the tourist traps but I was tremendously excited to explore Los Colores anyway after many years of admiring their window decor; just lovely.

The entire time I was there with my 2 daughters I was watched like a hawk, understandably, kids are scary, however at one point I wanted to cry as I was simply trying to put my babies shoes in my purse and the cashier Ulla or something was so far into my space I could hardly manage what was clearly an overwhelming moment for me. I quickly

Intense colors, sunny days and blue skies. And some shadow too. Picture perfect scenario for your vacation pics, so Pinterest friendly stores! I had not been at Bazaar del Mundo for at least a couple of years, and this past Sunday happily went back to redeem a prize I won. I ended up buying at Ariana clothing, one of the boutiques inside Bazaar del Mundo (and I did a separate review for them), but since this place is so awesome I could not stop there. I have to say this is the place to buy anything Mexican flavored decoration wise in San Diego (together with Casa Artelexia, which is wonderful)
