Dr. Ryan, as he is called by his patients, grew up in Rochester, Indiana. As a teenager, his mom underwent spinal surgery for sciatic pain. Shortly thereafter, she became paralyzed and it was not until treatment with a chiropractor that she regained her ability to walk. From that point on, Ryan decided that he wanted to use his life to help people like his mom and become a chiropractor.
