When I was 20 years old, I had been thinking of pursuing a career as a stylist but after receiving the worst haircut of my life I knew it must happen. If anything, it would teach me how to do my own hair and be able to create my own style. Fast forward a few years, at the age of 24, I decided it was time to open my own shop.
I sold my car to help with the downpayment and bought a 4 chair salon three blocks from my home. My best friend, that I met in beauty school, and I worked side by side for three months before taking on another team member. Within six months of being opened, our salon was filled with stylist and our vintage shop was thriving.

They did my hair great the first time, but they kinda just seem to do what they want on fantasy colors. I wanted lighter colors and both stylist’s I went to did mine too dark and not the color I want and still had to pay over $200. I won’t be back again.

One of the coolest spots you can go for a haircut or style! Been goin for a couple years now and Addrianna has been THE BEST hairdresser I have EVER had! She goes above and beyond with her professional skills to make sure my haircut is done right every time and her customer service is amazing! Plus they have a very sweet, and knowledgeable staff! Wouldn't want to get my hair cut anywhere else! Thanks again for everything Addry! 🙏🏽

I came here at the recommendation of a friend for my first brow shaping and I absolutely loved it! The salon itself is a spacious building with tons of attitude, and the employees inside were super kind and welcoming. My stylist helped me with the shaping (as I had no idea what I wanted) and did so very gently and professionally. She was super pleasant and the experience went great! Velvet Monkey Salon will definitely be first on the list whenever I need a salon from now on :)

I booked with Tim for a highlight and cut. I haven’t had my hair highlighted or colored in many years but Tim listened to what I wanted and made it happen! Styled it and everything for a really decent price! Definitely will be coming back!
