We are Real Connections Counseling, LLC. Our names are Rick & Monique Elgersma, and we are Couples and Family Therapists working primarily in the Greater Des Moines, IA area. Our practice is located smack in the heart of Urbandale, IA and we also have a branch in Winterset! We focus our work for couples.

Working with Rick and Monique have been great! They taught us the tools needed to maintain a successful marriage. We could tell they were invested in and had a genuine interest in improving our relationship. They also navigated and guided each therapy session well and gave us homework to work on at home and held us accountable for mishaps without being judgmental.

My wife and I were not connecting, walls had been built and the spark was missing. We found Rick and Monique's co-counseling so unique and balanced. The results from our sessions are so positive, useful and strengthening not only to our marriage, but to us both as individuals. Rick & Monique are awesome counselors. My wife and I did a pre-marriage course with them when we were engaged and it made our relationship stronger. We still utilize tools they gave us in our sessions almost 2 years ago. They are both very honest but are encouraging and explain things in a way that doesn't make you feel belittled or judged. Rick has also been kind enough to do some one on one counseling with me which I greatly appreciate! I highly recommend them to anyone who needs some guidance in their relationship.
