As an independent agency, we work for our clients- not the insurance companies. Our team specializes in Medicare insurance products.
Part A is your hospital insurance. This part helps with costs associated with inpatient hospital stays and skilled nursing facility stays. Home health and hospice care are also included under Medicare Part A. For most individuals, there is no pay for Medicare Part A. Typically, there is no monthly premium for Medicare Part A (Hospital Insurance) coverage, because the policy holder paid Medicare taxes for a certain amount of time while working.
Original Medicare has two working parts, Medicare Part A and Medicare Part B. Medicare Part A is insurance that covers you for inpatient care. Most people think of inpatient care as a typical hospital stay. However, Medicare Part A covers typical hospital stays as well as inpatient care at mental hospitals and inpatient rehabilitation facilities.
Medicare Part B covers outpatient healthcare services. This part of Original Medicare covers medically necessary services and supplies. Flu shots, colonoscopies, mammograms, and wellness checkups are examples of what is included in these outpatient services. It also covers routine outpatient services such as doctor's visits, lab work, and home health.
A Medicare Advantage plan is an insurance plan offered by private companies that contract and are approved by Medicare. You may opt to get your Medicare Part A, B and D benefits from a Medicare Advantage plan instead of Original Medicare. Medicare Advantage Plans are sometimes called Medicare Part C. Advantage Plans offer you an alternative to Original Medicare.
