Appraisals for sellers are a key tool to provide confidence to both parties to the transaction. Individuals sell jewelry regularly and for a variety of reasons. 1 What do you have? As a seller, it's important to know the facts or you aren't going to be able to negotiate well with your potential buyers and it's easy to confuse your advertisements and the advertisements of the people you bought from with these facts.

Neil is such a great guy. He not only did a great job on the appraisal, but he also explained everything and told us what the insurance company would need etc. Additionally he gave us so much information about diamonds and ours specifically. I was referred to Neil Beaty through a consumer advocacy website. I was having my engagement diamond reset into a new setting a few years ago. The jeweler was in NY, I am in CA and Neil was in Colorado. I was very nervous and wanted Neil to be my 'middle man'. He unset my stone and appraised it unset. Then sent the stone to the designer who was creating the setting. After the stone was reset, it was sent to Neil again for him to appraise the piece now set.

Just wanted to leave a review of my very positive experience w/ Neil at American Gem Registry. I found him through the AGS (https://www.americangemsociety.org/en/appraiser-search-results?state=CO) website and had wanted him to independently verify my loose diamond for symmetry using ASET and Idealscope.
Neil works by appointment only, and it was very easy to schedule via an email and phone confirmation. I went w/ my parents on a weekend (Neil is open on Saturdays from 9-2 pm by appointment only), and it was fortunate he could see us on a weekend since I am only in town on weekends.

I was there to have my ring appraised for insurance purposes and I have very limited knowledge about gems( as I am sure most of the community does as well). It's a bit like learning a foreign language. However Neil was truly helpful and thorough with his explanation of the ratings of my diamond. Which made the whole process a lot easier. He took time to explain the ratings and was able to demonstrate what he saw under the magnifying glass by projecting it on a large screen TV so that

Neil was extremely knowledgeable and honest. Overall a great experience, we learned a lot about the history and processes behind the pieces we brought in.
We would definitely recommend him to anyone looking for an appraisal of their jewelry. However, plan on spending a little time doing it, this is not a quick 15 min stop in the mall.

Neil is fantastic! Went in this morning to get a diamond "recertified" and it was a really great experience. He was capable of the GIA certs, but in my case it wasnt necessary. He has quite the set up in his shop and i was very impressed with his high degree of professionalism throughout the process

Neil is an astonishing expert, and likely the most experienced appraiser in the entire state, if not the entire country. GIA and AGS certification/training (to name a few), are you kidding me?! Why would you go anywhere else?! From the moment I walked in, Neil spent more than enough time answering my questions, and gave me a history on differences in diamond cut and grading from different labs that was absolutely fascinating. I went to Neil today for a ring appraisal after I got a bad feeling from my first (unprofessional) appraiser. It was an appraisal for engagement ring bought online. Neil was so nice, helpful, and professional. I watched the entire appraisal and Neil let me ask 1 million questions and took the time to educate me, which I really appreciated!
