Services
A Guardian looks after the care and medical decisions of someone who has become incapacitated. A Conservator manages a person's financial affairs. The same individual can serve as one or both. Parents of an incapacitated child need the Court's permission to continue parenting after the child turns eighteen.
Wills only become effective after death. They serve to distribute wealth to survivors, but give no power to assist you while living through life's changes; practical, medical, residential and financial. Elder Law, PLC designs Trusts, Powers of Attorney, Advance Directives and other instruments to ensure quality of life.
Financial exploitation of elders is all too common. Frequently the perpetrator is a family member. It might also be a caregiver, service provider, online merchant, or even a nationally recognized charity which has found a soft target. If you suspect elder exploitation, Elder Law, PLC can intervene directly, summon appropriate authorities, or take the matter to court.
