The Daugherty Law Office was founded in1961 by John Balcom Daugherty, member emeritus. In 1995, John (J.B.) Burton Daugherty, joined the firm moving from East Lansing, after practicing law in the Lansing region for several years. Mr. Daugherty, a third-generation attorney, has more than thirty (30) years of experience practicing law in Michigan.
He is a graduate of Calvin College, Grand Rapids, Michigan, and an honors graduate of Thomas M. Cooley Law School (now Western Michigan University Cooley Law School), Lansing, Michigan, where he received his Juris Doctor cum laude. He was a law review member. Mr. Daugherty had the honor of serving Benzie County as its elected prosecuting attorney from 2009-2012.
