Sawtooth Mountain Clinic, Inc. (SMC) is a Federally Qualified Community Health Center in Grand Marais, MN. Founded by Drs. Roger MacDonald, David Hilfiker, Bill Gallea, and Barbara Bank in 1979, SMC has served the health care needs of Cook County, MN, for 40 years. Through financial support from the federal government, we are able to offer high-quality primary health care to every patient, regardless of the ability to pay.

Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHC) are community-based health care facilities that receive funding to provide integrated primary care services in rural or underserved areas. Sawtooth Mountain Clinic has been a FQHC since 1979.
