Conrad Machine Co. is the oldest manufacturer of fine art printmaking presses in North America. We have been designing and manufacturing printmaking presses since 1956. Over the past 50 plus years, we have built many lines of printmaking presses and we are proud to manufacture 6 different lines of printmaking presses, today, including Conrad Machine Co. presses, American French Tool presses, Brand New presses, and Rembrandt presses.
We do not, by and large, sell peripheral materials like other companies. Instead, we concentrate our time, energy, and engineering abilities on manufacturing the world's finest printmaking presses. Services
The Conrad Machine Co. etching press line consists of seven different etching press models. This line of etching presses offers small to large tabletop etching presses as well as small to large floor model etching presses. All of the Conrad Machine Co. etching presses can be customized to better fit the printmaker.
Most of the small Etching Presses being built today are not built to the same standards as large professional presses. Inadequate gearing, or no gearing at all, and unavailability of desired options are probably the greatest drawbacks of most small Etching Presses. When Conrad Machine Company designed the E-12 and E-15 Etching Presses, we gave them the same professional features and options that are available on our large professional presses.
I have been working with presses manufactured by Conrad Machine Company since 1976. I have used them as a student, a college professor, and as a professional printmaker. As a college professor, I have seen the use, and abuse, that presses take in a printmaking studio and Conrad presses not only withstand this constant use but have given me years of trouble-free service.
After years of testing, Conrad Machine is proud to introduce the unique Twin-Torque Drive. This drive is the only hand drive on the market today that enables the printmaker to choose a gear ratio suited to his medium. Take your choice of 5, 10, 15, 20 or 25 to 1 gear ratios driving through a fully enclosed, self-contained double reduction planetary gear drive.
I just wanted to tell you how pleased I am with my press. I pull about 1,000- 1,500 etchings per year. The press performs equally well on my most delicate aqua-tints, or boldest line work. As far as I am concerned, the performance of this press is unmatched, and at considerable savings. One of the most important components of any press is its drive.
