Inman News is a terrible company. Period.

My major complaint (only one of several) is that there's no way on their website to stop auto-renewal of the subscription. So if you don't keep a lookout for emails regarding renewals -- which are easy to miss because Inman bombards its customers with emails -- then you'll find yourself on the hook for a $199 charge for a service that you don't want. And, of course, they won't issue a refund, even a partial refund.

Inman News epitomizes sleaziness. They must really hate their customers.

Terrible company! Its COVID, yes, I had my subscription on auto renew. I was charged $199 on the 24th, on the 25th, I asked for a refund and to cancel my subscription. At first they offered my $99 to stay, I said no, I would not need it as I am not doing real-estate any more. To please cancel me and credit my account back.

They replied they would not credit me back anything and cancel my account next year.

ARE YOU KIDDING ME!?! What type of company is this, I will be reporting to them to the BBB.

STAY AWAY!

My card had expired last year and I thought "they will not be capable of charging me, so let it expire." Wrong, as others have pointed out, they used whatever means was necessary to get paid, including updating expiration dates without permission from the consumer. This year, I saw that they had invoiced me, and this time I called, politely asked to cancel, and was told okay you are cancelled. I asked about the credit back for $199. The rep said they do not credit back per their policy. My response was "Is that really how you want to do business?" which was met by quoting policy

You do not need Inman News to increase your knowledge. I was recurring charged on 10/04 and wrote an email on 10/04 afternoon to cancel it and get the full refund, $199. I received the response on 10/05 that due to the company policy, I cannot get any refund since I did not cancel before 10/04. I was also told that I received three reminders emails (which I did not receive) If that is the way to do business, hopefully this business will be closed soon.

Like others on Yelp I gave Inman my CC for a the Inman Select 1 year subscription for 2018. My 1 year just ended and they auto billed my card so when I noticed the charge on my CC I send them an email asking for a refund.
Gabriela Trejo sent me an email stating it was on an auto renewal and I would have needed to cancel before that date. I emailed them 2 days after they billed me. They also said they sent me an email reminder and well I did not get an email about that. Gabriela just had a link in the email leading to their legal page. Also said they will cancel at the end of this year.

Do not use this service! It is a scam and a ripoff. This is literally the only place I've found online to review this company. They have reviews closed on Facebook and have "closed" their business on google reviews.

This should have been a red flag. The website is hard to use and the information is not good quality. There is plenty of higher quality information about the real estate business online and for free or at least much, much cheaper than it can be found on Inman.

So, basically, if your broker is including a "free" subscription with your desk fees, then I guess

NEVER give Inman your credit card. My subscription expired. My credit card had expired due to a new one issued with new expiration date. I did not give Inman my new expiration date though they asked for it repeatedly. They acquired my new expiration date from VISA without my permission and charged my account. I called them while the charge was still "pending" and they refused to credit my account. I've since closed this account and will disputed the charge vigorously.

Some of the articles are interesting but there is a limited amount of information and it all gets quite repetitive after a while. That would be ok as long as they made it easy to unsubscribe from your paid subscription once you had your fill. But they do not. Their "manage subscription" page on the website brings to you to an up-sell page for a even more expensive subscription. Emailed questions about cancelling their service go unanswered.

Inman News is nothing unique and you can find the same information through many different real estate new sources. They make it extremely difficult to unsubscribe allowing them to remain charging your credit card.
