The Red Bento is a series of Asian-fusion restaurants located in the Palouse / Lewis-Clark area. With a large menu comprising of Japanese meals (Sushi, Teriyaki, Yakisoba, Tempura) and Asian-fusion offerings (Korean, Chinese, Thai), the restaurant would go on to be a massive success with the local community, and be voted the "Best Asian Restaurant" in the Palouse for four years straight by Pullman Daily News.
Following the Moscow restaurant's success, a new Pullman location would open three years later, in the summer of 2012. Located on Stadium Way, the Red Bento became the primary source of quality Asian meals in the Pullman area. The success of both Moscow and Pullman locations gave way for yet another location to open-- this time, in Lewiston Idaho.

The food was really good. It did take us some time to get our food because there was a really large order that was put in for us to go. Seems like it's ways best to order quickly. They don't favor dine in guest orders over large orders for the basketball team. My husbands sushi came.out 15 mins before my food. I think they thought we were sharing. The server was very apologetic. When my pad Thai did come out it was undercooked. I think they were probably trying to rush it out since we had already received all the rest of our food. I'm going to chalk it up to them being busy. Lots of options to

Very disappointed in our experience this visit. We have always enjoyed our visits in the past, both in Lewiston and Moscow.
Unfortunately this time, our waitress totally dropped the ball. She admitted to forgetting to come take our order. It then took a very long time for our food to arrive. Tables around us were getting their checks, and had been sat after us.. We were to the point of leaving without eating, and going somewhere else.
When she brought out our meals, we were short one table setting, so I asked for another set of chop sticks and napkins... Sure, I'll be right back. Then, she disappeared

I like most of their food, I don’t eat the raw fish, they do a good quality bento box. And some things are healthy I don’t like the teriyaki had some burnt stuff and the waitress was like well everyone else likes it, I don’t eat a lot of meat though tempura is fried but good. I’m not supposed to have it. Bento is a lot of food for sort of cheap and not super bad for you. I’ve been enjoying their stuff for a sometimes treat because I went plant based and I splurge on Japanese I won’t eat anything super gross like KFC. They do certain things well not the Chinese food so I don’t go w

Came here around 12pm on Thursday, 10/07/11, to order a takeout. The service was good and quick, and the food was okay. If I was impressed by something , I like how neatly packed the sushi were for the take out and how the sushi looked neatly assembled. Now, the sushi rice for me needs seasoning and fish doesn't taste as fresh. As much as I wanna critic the raw fish, I understand that we aren't near the coast and with the supply chain issues it would affect the quality, so I'm not focusing on it too much. I wasn't really fond of the cream cheese on the Philly roll, so the cream

We've been mostly happy with the food and service the past few times we've been here, so I'm updating my review. We stick to the sushi and teriyaki, because everything else we've tried has been blah. The sushi is tasty and interesting, but sometimes soggy with takeout, and while I think the meat tends to be dried out and tough, my kids like the teriyaki.

I'm the first to understand the challenges around the supply chain and finding good workers. However, I was put off by a few things when I called to order take out. One, the restaurant is charging extra for spice level. Two, they don't have peanuts available for the pad thai dish. Aren't peanuts part of the dish? If you can't make the dish they way it should be due to the supply chain, why offer it? Take it off the menu and focus on what you are good at. As I was ordering, I realized I wasn't going to get the food the way I wanted and was going to pay extra. So, I opted

Do not go here unless you reaalllllly don't care what you are eating. We ordered the orange chicken, chicken/beef teriyaki, and chicken ramen. I will mostly be reviewing the ramen, as that is what I ordered The ramen looked ok, but tasted very bland. The noodles looked and tasted exactly like (top) ramen noodles, and the meat tasted and felt like it was boiled in water ahead of time. The mushrooms tasted like they were marinated in something resembling a teriyaki sauce. I also tasted the orange chicken, which was significantly better than the ramen but not outstanding. I was extremely disappointed

Stopped in for lunch around 2pm, so after the rush, but still lunch prices. Portions were generous and quite tasty. Menu listed General Tao chicken as spicy, and it actually was. Prices were quite reasonable.
June 2021:
Made another trip to Moscow, so another stop at Red Bento. They expect to re-start seating in their dining room on 6/11/21. The place looks so empty with yellow tape roping everything off like a crime scene.
Everything above still applicable.

They gave me the wrong order, then called me a liar and wouldnt fix it. All for 8.95. Wow. Dont go here. I'm not the first person to tell you this.. I tried to get past the level 1-3 bosses and they're too powerful for me to want to fight them just for some orange chicken..low grade food. Terrible service. Prices are low but not matching quality. Quality of service and food is 0/5. Game over duuuuude

Brief tutorial for the cooks at this Red Bento:
Put uncooked rice into a cambro or a measuring cup. Hold your open hand palm side up over your rice cooker and slowly pour the rice over your hand to visually inspect for rock and other debris. When the rice is cooked, use a utensil to fluff it and visually inspect it again for undesired foreign objects. Then, later when you are measuring and handling rice to roll sushi, inspect it a third time in case it picked up any stray debris from your block or station. Technically when you plate or package a meal there is a fourth opportunity to inspect the

Red Bento is absolutely the worst place to eat at. Service was horrendous. We sat down quickly but it took our waiter 15 minutes to come and ask if we wanted drinks! Then after 40 minutes of waiting we finally got our food, and that's the second time we saw our waiter and only time until we got the bill. We asked for extra plates and utensils and not once did we get a water refill. The people working looked like they were just walking around in circles not doing their job. I swear I made eye contact with the waiter ten times and he never came to our table.

This was the first time Since 2015 that I've been here, and I was so excited to experience their new location. Sadly I was so disappointed. We went in for lunch around 2, the place was empty only 2 other tables. I order the miso soup, Playgirl and Boston roll. My cousin ordered the Playboy and Las Vegas roll. I'm use to miso soup having tofu and green onions, this one only had a chuck of seaweed with a lackluster flavor of miso. Now when our server brought out our sushi we noticed they had mixed up our playgirl/boy rolls on our plates, so we asked to make sure. (Hers was Tuna which is

If you don't care about taste and texture or the expiration date of fish then you'll love Red Bento.
Gave it another try since they changed locations and I was hoping this experience would be better, however Linda was treating her employees poorly in front of customers on a busy Friday night. I really wanted to give them another shot, but after this experience, I won't be back.

Tried the new location in Palouse Mall today. I never liked the Pullman location, but since this location is new, I thought I'd give them another chance and maybe they've gotten better. It's been about 4+ years since I've eaten at Red Bento.
Cons: Their menu is all over the place with different Asian cruisine selections with no real speciality, therefore their food lack taste and authenticity. This goes for all the red bentos. Today, We ordered some bentos and sushi rolls. Our tempura shrimp in our rattlesnake roll tasted stale, and was thick with batter and very hard to

This place really lacks on atmosphere. It's pretty grubby around the edges and the back hallway is definitely not a welcoming entrance.
I had the bento box. It was pretty average and while it didn't stand out, it wasn't bad. The best part was the teriyaki chicken. The sushi was on par with grocery store sushi, so I'd skip it if I ever came back.
They do have free miso soup with your entree, and that was nice touch.

Not good and too much sauce on everything. Not all ingredients fresh (even in the 🍣). Yakisoba was innedible. Teriyaki was way too salty. Service was poor and slow. We had a lady only drop off our food. No one came to check up. We asked for our bill and they told us they can bring it but normally people walk up to the cashier. Expensive for the poor quality and service.
