Kat is a Milwaukee, WI native but got to Texas as fast as she could! She began her career in dentistry back in 2004 and joined the JLD team in 2010.
Dr. Scaggs and Josey Lane Dentistry have proudly served the city of Carrollton, Texas since 2003. The goal of our dental office has been the same since day one: provide expert-quality dental work in a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere. We aim to surpass that goal every single day. We start by learning more about each and every one of our patients.

Dr. Melissa Scaggs is very a professional dentist and explains all dental procedures and options to make you feel at ease. Dr. Melissa Scaggs received her undergraduate degree in Zoology from Texas Tech University in 1996. She continued her education with The University of Texas at San Antonio where she earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 2000 and graduated Cum Laude.
Dr. Penchan was born in Dearborn, MI, and grew up in Coppell, TX. She moved to Texas when her dad had a change in job, and stayed south as she started college. She graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a degree in Business Management and a minor in Chemistry in 2006, then received her doctorate degree in 2012 from Baylor College of Dentistry in Dallas.

Never have I ever loved going to the Dentist until I came upon Josey Lane Dentistry. The entire Staff is wonderful, gentle with my cleanings (I have sensitive gums) and truly attentive to what’s going on with my teeth. I don’t ever feel like just another patient they need to cross of their daily calendar, I feel like they really care about the outcome and results of each visit.

I went to Josey Lane Dentistry for a cleaning a few days ago. The staff is always friendly and professional. The office was clean and they had set up the waiting room to provide for appropriate social distancing. They all were wearing their masks and wearing them correctly. They wipe down all surfaces prior to seeing a new patient. I felt comfortable being there.

I came to Josey Lane Dentistry after twenty years with a great dentist in Houston; it was challenging to change. From the very first appointment, I felt confidence in and was comfortable with the doctors, technicians and staff. My dental needs span a wide spectrum of procedures and I know that the dentists at Josey Lane can take care of any issue that comes up. Well I used to have a different Doctor however he decided to retired. I wasn't to excited to start with a new dentist. However let me tell you, since my first visit I fell in love with this location. Even though its a little bit farther than my previous dentist, if I am running a few minutes. They are always sweet about it. I am telling you the whole Staff is amazing, starting with Mary who provided an Exceptional Customer Service experience since the first time I met her. The Dentists, the Hygienists, the front desk everyone in this location are just superb! Do I recommend them? You bet I do!
